Job Description:

  • Conduct analysis on Business Requirements and prepare program specifications at the systems level for medium to complex systems or modules.
  • Develop, test, and maintain modules according to system specifications, and identify scenarios to prepare tests for systems under development.
  • Execute test plans during development and support system testing, user acceptance testing, and other testing phases to ensure system processing aligns with user requirements and designs.
  • Perform implementation activities such as program promotions, system installation, training, and tutorials for end users.
  • Provide post-implementation support, including analysis of production incidents.
  • Develop and update Permanent System Documentation and other Operations Manuals.
  • Provide updates and status reports to the project manager during development and support activities.
  • Manage a system module, identify areas for improvement or enhancements on existing modules or new developments.

Preferred skills / Compétences particulières

  • Proficient in programming on supported Sun Life platforms.
  • Basic systems analysis and design skills to understand Technical Specifications documents.
  • Ability to follow the development methodology used in Sun Life.
  • Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycles and deliverables.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills; client-oriented.
  • Familiarity with Office Automation tools such as MS Office and Lotus Notes; macro programming or report writing skills are a plus.
  • High stress tolerance and ability to interact effectively with all management levels.
  • Willingness to work on weekends and holidays if necessary.

Qualifications / Compétences

  • College/University Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Cobol and Java programming, analysis, design, and testing.
  • Background in Life Insurance business.
  • Knowledge of Cobol and Java programming languages.
  • Basic Systems Analysis and Design skills.
  • Experience with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
