Position Title: System Administrator

Job Summary

  1. Designs, evaluates, installs, and administers infrastructure components and facilities. Provides technical support services to personnel in other ITG teams. Plans, prepares, recommends, and implements medium-term roadmaps for the infrastructure that he manages.
  2. Required to have virtualization VMware / Hyper V / ESXi experience.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Installs and administers infrastructure components and facilities under his coverage. Maintains infrastructure uptime, performance, and security at agreed service levels.
  2. Researches industry developments regarding his assigned infrastructure components to learn and implement better infrastructure administration practices, understand cost-effective alternatives, and guard against unplanned obsolescence. Where needed, recommends better and/or more cost-effective replacement infrastructure.
  3. Provides technical support to personnel in data center operations, applications management, and risk management. Provides inputs to applications managers on infrastructure considerations so they can design applications optimally.
  4. Communicates and coordinates with infrastructure vendors regarding product updates, fixes, and support requirements. Periodically reviews vendor performance vis-a-vis Service Level Agreements.
  5. Periodically monitors the "health" and performance of his assigned infrastructure components, and regularly reports the status of such to his seniors.
  6. Performs regular housekeeping on his assigned infrastructure components, e.g., cleanup of unnecessary components, system-level backup, vendor preventive maintenance, etc. as applicable.
  7. Documents the configuration of his assigned infrastructure components and keeps such documentation updated and secure.
  8. Performs configuration management, change management, availability management, security, and patch management.
  9. Performs root cause assessment and recommends permanent resolutions to issues and problems encountered.
  10. Recommends and implements the automation of recurring tasks.
  11. Identifies infrastructure monitoring gaps and recommends tools and actions to close the gaps.
  12. Performs capacity management by collecting historical statistics and forecasting future growth. Sets the necessary thresholds to alert if resource additions need to be made. Triggers the necessary implementation of resource allocations.
  13. Performs other functions that may be assigned from time to time.
