We're looking for a Design Engineer with minimum 5 years' experience to deliver projects led by the Company Director & Principal Engineers. The role will require taking full responsibility for successful delivery of detailed design calculations to budget & timescale.

The position offers top base salaries, working on a portfolio of challenging projects which is suited to an ambitious individual.

Specific Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Preparation of Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Material take-offs, Scopes of Work, Technical reports, Inter-discipline design coordination and supervision.
  • Prepare design calculations, design to wind loads, developing design sketches and pass relevant information to designers as required on assigned projects.
  • Liaise with Designers in the preparation of CAD drawings, typically using Revit, AutoCAD.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to accommodate their requirements and with the Design Team in the preparation of structural drawings and details as required by the company Principal Engineer.
  • Support development of lessons learnt database.
  • Ensure all work is carried out with a positive attitude, both in design and in the company office environment.

Duties:

  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders to ensure project is delivered as required.
  • Provide training to in-house staff as required.
  • Provide technical support to our clients.
  • Issue technical drawings and documentation as required.
  • Produce compliance documentation.
  • Issue technical details for project delivery.
  • Work with CAD/Revit Technicians for production of project drawings.
  • Attend design meetings relevant to the projects being worked on.
  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines and with staff internally.
  • Maintain client contact and ensure that project delivery meets the client's objectives and requirements.
  • Ensure that the technical content of all work carried out is correct and completed in accordance with design codes of practice.
  • Lead & deliver design work within timescales and budget.

The successful candidate

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years' broad post-qualification experience in a competitive working environment.
  • Analysis & design of steel, concrete, masonry, timber structures to BS & Eurocode.
  • Analysis and Design of foundations & geotechnical structures to BS & Eurocode.
  • Analysis and Design using engineering software such as StatiCa, Axis VM FEM Modelling, Tekla Tedds.
  • A client-focused approach with effective time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and effective communicator and problem solver.

Work set-up: Home-based (must have own equipment)

Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 5PM - 2AM
