The Façade Senior Designer is responsible for leading and executing the engineering, design coordination, and technical development of façade systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and quality requirements. The role involves managing technical aspects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and driving project efficiency through expertise in façade design and engineering.

Mission/Core Purpose of the Job

The Façade Senior Designer is responsible for leading and executing the engineering, design coordination, and technical development of façade systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and quality requirements. The role involves managing technical aspects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and driving project efficiency through expertise in façade design and engineering.

Key Performance Areas & ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks:
  • Lead the detailed engineering and technical development of façade systems, ensuring structural integrity, durability, and compliance with design intent.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of façade engineering documents, including technical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Collaborate with architects, consultants, and structural engineers to ensure façade design solutions integrate seamlessly with overall building designs.
  • Evaluate and select façade materials and systems based on performance criteria, sustainability, and budget constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with local building regulations, façade engineering codes, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate façade performance testing (thermal, acoustic, structural, and environmental) and implement necessary design improvements.
  • Resolve complex technical issues related to façade engineering, providing solutions for challenges during design, manufacturing, and installation phases.
  • Monitor and review façade design submittals, shop drawings, and method statements to ensure alignment with approved project specifications.
  • Lead the interface between façade engineering and other building disciplines, including structural, MEP, and architectural teams.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality control checks to ensure façade installation aligns with approved designs and specifications.
  • Support procurement and tendering processes, reviewing technical bids and supplier proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in façade engineering, materials, and technologies, integrating them into future projects as applicable.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets related to façade engineering scope, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of façade solutions.
Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks:
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
  • Develop and implement best practices in façade engineering, standardizing technical workflows, procedures, and quality control measures.
  • Ensure knowledge sharing within the team, organizing technical workshops, training sessions, and discussions on emerging façade engineering trends.
  • Coordinate with project managers and site teams to ensure seamless execution of façade engineering tasks from design to installation.
Minimum RequirementsEducation:
  • BSc in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in façade design and engineering.
Training & Technical Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper, SolidWorks, and façade analysis tools (e.g., THERM, Flixo, or ANSYS).
  • Strong understanding of modeling, drafting, design, and engineering principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of office applications.
