Short Description for Internal Candidates

  • Generate technically and grammatically correct test and torque reports on critical customer electrical assets, based on test data, torque reports, and reference materials supplied by Technical Service, Electrical Reliability Services. The customer test and torque reports detail inspected customer equipment, inspection procedures, and inspection results and recommendations.

Description for Internal Candidates

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Download test data and torque reports on the critical electrical assets of the customer, as collected by Commissioning or Field Service technicians/engineers (Electrical Reliability Services/High Voltage Maintenance) via the PowerDB, eFolders, CxAlloy or other platforms.
  2. Validate electrical torque reports, continuity reports, and test data for different types of electrical equipment, including but not limited to switchgear, switchboard, switches, motor control centers, transformers, cables, circuit breakers, metering, grounding systems, rotating machinery, direct current systems, capacitors, reactors, surge protection, and insulating liquids per IEEE/NETA, NEMA, NFPA, and ASTM standards, and other references, such as Doble. In addition, the review will validate the torque report and test data against the project specific one-line diagrams and approved short circuit and coordination study.
  3. Check completeness and logical sense of reports, electrical test data, test results, and remedial recommendations in test datasheets (from PowerDB, eFolders, CxAlloy, emails, etc.), and make corrections as required.
  4. Analyze infrared images and power quality data, and provide sound recommendations as required.
  5. Coordinate the review and correction of torque reports and test data with ERS/HVM Service Center engineers, supervisors, and/or managers.
  6. Document tools, standards, technical knowledge, and team policies and procedures.
  7. Log and update request/task details in the team's tracker databases, ensuring timely and accurate updates of task status, priority, complexity, assignee, and other relevant information.
  8. Learn the new updates or revisions in the electrical testing standards such as NETA, IEEE, NEC, etc.
  9. Learn CxAlloy, a commissioning management tool.
  10. Actively participate in team activities and initiatives.
  11. Fulfill other reasonable duties and projects as required.
  12. Serve as back-up for next-level similar or related functions for business continuity.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  2. 5 years of professional experience in the field of electrical testing and commissioning
  3. Familiarity with standards from InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA), National Electrical Code (NEC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and American National (ANSI), etc.
  4. Knowledge and theoretical understanding of building electrical systems, including normal and emergency power distribution systems, critical power systems, generators, automatic transfer switches, metering, motor control centers, and interlocks.
  5. Solid knowledge of (1) tests performed on circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, and other power distribution components and equipment; (2) power quality issues and perspectives and experience with power quality analyzer software; (3) infrared inspections and issues, and experience with thermal imaging software; (4) reading and understanding electrical distribution one-line diagrams and associated Division 26 specifications; (5) reading and understanding Short Circuit and Coordination Studies (SCCS); and (6) torque and continuity reports for electrical terminations on electrical distribution equipment.
  6. Background and experience in operation and maintenance of switchgear through the 600V class.
  7. Good knowledge of technical English, and good business writing skills.
  8. Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with points of contact (POCs) and peers.
  9. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  10. Willing to work on flexible hours.
