Job Description

Shift: Night Shift

We are looking for an energetic, well-versed Staff Accountant who is looking for an opportunity to join a well-funded insurance "start-up" that will be writing both admitted and non-admitted business in 50 states. You would join an incredibly talented and experienced operating team and be instrumental in growing our business and appropriately rewarded.

  • Preparing journal entries for monthly general ledger close.
  • Reviewing and processing AP invoices and expense reports.
  • Responsible for assisting in maintaining general ledger account balances, in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist in preparing accurate monthly financial reports. Reconciles and validates organization's general ledger accounts.
  • Completes routine accounting assignments.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial statement accounts for accuracy, budget variance and unusual trends.
  • Maintains fixed asset and prepaid accounts.
  • Ensures that comprehensive accounting records are maintained in an organized manner.
  • Posts journal entries and prepares analysis schedules.
  • Assists with month-end close processes.
  • Special projects and any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 2-5 years accounting experience, insurance industry experience a plus.
  • Able to work independently through projects assigned.
  • Quick learner and with the ability to adapt to changing work requirements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Detail and results oriented.
