AVP Controllership - Regulatory Reporting

Organization Overview: The Controllership organization within Finance COE is responsible for monitoring day-to-day accounting activities involved in Synchrony's business. This includes general accounting, client accounting, reconciliations, closing & reporting, system maintenance, and governance-related subprocesses. Each process contributes to the quarterly & annual financial close and ensures accurate external reporting.

Job Description: The AVP Controllership - Regulatory Reporting supports the Regulatory Reporting team in preparing Fed & OCC reports according to US GAAP, including schedules within FR2900, FRY-9C, FFIEC031, FRY-9LP, FRY-11, FFIEC009, FR Y-14Q, and FR Y-15.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of regulatory reporting schedules on daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Assist with projects by managing accountability, responsibility, dashboard reporting, and tracking.
  • Maintain job aids, procedures, and policies.
  • Support quality assurance, internal audits, and regulator inquiries.
  • Participate in system implementation, automation, and process improvement projects.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 3 years of accounting experience in Banking or Financial Services, or 7 years of experience without a degree.
  • Proficient in financial systems like HFM, Hyperion, Oracle Financials Data Warehouse, and Microsoft Office.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in Regulatory Reporting and Axiom ControllerView.
  • Strong US GAAP and technical accounting knowledge.
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as Hyperion, Oracle Discoverer, and Business Objects.
  • Strong communication, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
