The role is responsible for preparing tax reconciliations, journal entries, and compliance documents, while fostering collaborative relationships with business units and external stakeholders. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a proactive approach to staying updated on tax regulations, and the ability to handle ad-hoc tasks effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Prepares the reconciliation of tax balances in the accounting books (i.e., general ledger, trial balance, financial statements) and reconciles with tax returns in preparation for a tax assessment
  2. Prepares monthly journal entries related to the payment of taxes
  3. Coordinates closely with business units and external consultants/auditors for purposes of tax compliance (e.g., tax return preparation, tax assessments)
  4. Prepares tax reconciliation schedules in relation to tax assessments
  5. Prepares the annual registration and submission of computerized books of accounts (CAS)
  6. Reviews VAT zero-rating documents submitted by clients who are registered export enterprises (e.g., PEZA, SBMA, BOI)
  7. Maintains accurate and updated filing database of tax returns, attachments, and other submissions
  8. Monitors updates in tax regulations
  9. Handle other ad-hoc activities (e.g., drafting of responses to queries from business units, submissions to the BIR, etc.)

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Education – Graduate of BS Accountancy or related field
  • Experience – at least 1 year relevant experience in tax compliance, preferably in HMO industry
  • Certifications/licenses – Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification preferred but not required
  • Technical / functional skills:
  1. Experience in handling BIR tax assessments is preferred
  2. Experience in BIR and Local Government Unit (LGU) regulatory requirements
  3. Knowledgeable in accounting for taxes (e.g., PAS 12, IFRIC 23, ASC 740)
  4. Able to determine the tax implications of new tax issuances to the Company's business
  5. Proficiency in MS applications (particularly Excel) and MS NAV
  • Business skills:
  1. Agile, effective business communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, can manage simultaneous tasks effectively
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  3. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
