Job Summary

As a Software Engineer II in the API Platforms team, you will support the design, development and optimization of scalable, secure and high-performance API platforms. Your role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust platform solutions that empower internal and external engineers.

You will be responsible for supporting architecture of reusable frameworks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and implementing best practices for API engineering and API management.

This role requires a strong background in distributed systems, API management technologies, and a deep understanding of cloud-native development. You will support the technical leader in bridging complex requirements with innovative solutions, fostering engineering excellence, and ensuring our platforms scale with organisational growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Understand the bank's strategy and implement API Platform features to deliver the bank's platform strategy.
  2. This role will work alongside our API Platform team to build industry leading capabilities.
  3. Understand the bank's software delivery processes and implement solutions in line with the bank's compliance and security requirements.
  4. Work collaboratively with the API Platform team and diverse engineers to deliver API Platform products and tooling.
  5. Produce technical documentation and prepare training materials on the solutions being delivered and provide technical support.
  6. Understand the bank's risk management framework and embed that into the technology solution being delivered.
  7. Understand the bank's software delivery & quality assurance framework and assist in solutioning in respective governance activity.
  8. Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  9. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
  1. Has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, ICT, Mathematics or other related courses.
  2. Has at least 10 years of experience working as a Software Engineer/Dev Lead.
  3. A strong communicator with experience in agile working environments.
  4. Has done API development and owned API technical implementation in a scrum team.
  5. Has experience in the following Tech Stack (required):
  • DevOps with exposure to CI/CD tools such as ADO, Git, Ansible.
  • ELK stack with data instrumentation & Telemetry.
  • Database systems and design on SQL & Postgre SQL.
  • Front-end frameworks such as React, Vue and Lit.
Has hands-on experience in the following Tech Stack (preferred):
  • OIDC, oAuth 2.0, Tokenization framework, MFA, Identity Management, Cryptography. Proficient in other security frameworks such as FIDO, SAML.
  • Unix and Windows host operating systems, scripting (Bash/Shell or PowerShell) & networking.
  • Containers as well as container platforms such as Podman, Docker and Kubernetes.
