JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

As Safety Officer 3 (SO3), he/she ensures updates, compliance, improvement, and maintenance of all OSH policies and regulations such as DEPARTMENT ORDER NO. 198, SERIES OF 2018/IRR of RA No. 11058 and related matters. He/she is responsible for ensuring the safety of all workers and/or safe operation of the plant, performing preventive maintenance checks on safety and fire protection facilities. He/she oversees the overall management of the OSH program in coordination with the OSH committee and all department heads/managers, and trains junior safety officers as necessary. Performs other duties/responsibilities as directed or assigned, including ad hoc tasks and projects.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular HIRAC (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and Control) on site.
  • Monitoring and inspecting health and safety aspects of operations with supervisors and workers.
  • Assisting government inspectors during safety and health inspections and accident investigations by providing necessary information and reports.
  • Conducting orientation and training on the proper use and safe operation of key process equipment.
  • Leading investigations into major incidents or systemic safety issues using advanced investigative techniques.
  • Scheduling and overseeing WEM and FDAS activities.
  • Collaborating with the Facility Maintenance section to secure permits to operate and ensure timely renewal of existing permits.
  • Ensuring emergency response procedures are in place, known to personnel, and conducting bi-annual emergency response drills.
Qualifications/Requirements

Education: Graduate of any technical, engineering, or business course.

Licensed/Certification: DOLE Certified Safety Officer 3 (SO3), BOSH, Accredited OSH practitioner in manufacturing.

Work Experience: Preferably 2 years' experience as OSH practitioner in manufacturing.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledgeable in OSH policies and guidelines; trained in loss control management (48hrs), HIRAC (48hrs), BOSH (40hrs), etc.; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Training of Trainers (TOT) Certified; Certified Safety Officer Level 3 recognized by DOLE.

Physical and Personal Attributes: Good health, pleasing personality, flexible, able to work without supervision, willing to work long hours, overtime, and emergency work.

Training Requirements: COSH, BOSH, LCM, HIRACAI, SSFM, ISO 45001, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016.

Working Conditions

Can work long hours, render overtime, and handle emergency situations.
