An individual in the Architecture job family is a strategic resource for UnitedHealth Group. This individual could be involved across many aspects of architecture, design, build, engineering and implementation of technical solutions and capabilities providing technical leadership. Responsible for communicating overall architecture vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs across various levels in the organization to gain buy-in. Will provide recommendations and technical guidance to improve performance, reliability, and reusability within the constraints of budget, resource and business dependencies. In base and mid-level roles, engages across teams in a capacity that ranges from assisting on in-flight initiatives, up to technical briefings and demonstrations of new technologies across the organization. In senior level roles, leads business solutions, capabilities, and is a strong influencer that engages with client executives and stakeholders. Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Works with less structured, more complex issues
• Serves as a resource to others
• Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure for data communication
• Develop and manage network architecture, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud-based networks
• Configure and manage firewalls, VPN tunnels, and network security protocols
• Implement and support Citrix NetScaler and Zscaler solutions
• Design and deploy AWS and Azure cloud network solutions
• Utilize PowerShell for automation and network management tasks
• Plan and execute the design and implementation of new and existing networks
• Perform integration work to ensure seamless connectivity and interoperability
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues
• Ensure network security and compliance with industry standards
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers
• Document network designs, configurations, and procedures
• Citrix-Specific Duties:
  • Design, deploy, and manage Citrix environments, including XenApp, XenDesktop, and Citrix Cloud
  • Optimize Citrix infrastructure for performance, security, and user experience.
  • Implement Citrix Profile Management and Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS)
  • Utilize Citrix Director for real-time monitoring and diagnostics
  • Manage Citrix StoreFront and Citrix Gateway configurations
  • Conduct regular updates and patch management for Citrix components
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for Citrix-related issues
• Firewall-Specific Duties:
  • Configure and manage firewalls, including rule creation, policy management, and threat detection
  • Monitor firewall performance, ensuring secure and efficient network traffic flow
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments on firewall configurations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve firewall-related issues
  • Stay updated with the latest firewall technologies and best practices
• VPN-Specific Duties:
  • Implement and maintain VPN solutions, including site-to-site and remote access VPNs
  • Monitor VPN performance to ensure secure and reliable connectivity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve VPN-related issues
  • Ensure VPN configurations comply with security policies and best practices
  • Provide support for remote users accessing the network via VPN
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or commensurate experience
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCDP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Citrix Certified Professional)
• Extensive experience in network architecture, design, and implementation
• Experience with VPN tunneling and secure remote access solutions
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms
• Citrix-Specific Experience:
  • Extensive experience with Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop
  • Experience with Citrix Profile Management and Citrix Provisioning Services
  • Experience with Citrix StoreFront and Citrix Gateway configurations
  • Proficiency in managing Citrix Cloud environments
  • Solid knowledge of Citrix Director for monitoring and diagnostics
  • Proven track record of optimizing Citrix environments for performance and security
• Firewall-Specific Experience:
  • Experience with configuring and managing firewalls from vendors such as Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, and Check Point
  • Experience with conducting security audits and vulnerability assessments on firewall configurations
  • In-depth knowledge of firewall technologies, including stateful inspection, packet filtering, and next-generation firewalls (NGFW)
  • Proficiency in creating and managing firewall rules, policies, and threat detection mechanisms
  • Proven solid troubleshooting skills for resolving firewall-related issues
• VPN-Specific Experience:
  • Extensive experience with VPN technologies, including site-to-site and remote access VPNs
  • Experience with monitoring and optimizing VPN performance
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing VPN solutions from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet
  • Solid understanding of VPN protocols (e.g., IPsec, SSL/TLS, L2TP)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex VPN-related issues
• Proficiency with firewall configuration and management
• Solid knowledge of Citrix NetScaler and Zscaler technologies
• Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for network automation
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proven excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proven solid communication and documentation skills
