We’re Hiring: Manager, Food Safety & Quality Assurance

We’re looking for an experienced FSQA Manager to lead the day-to-day operational side of Food Safety & Quality Assurance and act as a decision-maker when product, supplier, or customer issues require strong technical judgment.

This is not an audit-only or compliance-only role. We need someone who has worked close to food manufacturing operations, understands how quality decisions are made when a product is moving, and can make clear, risk-based calls without needing perfect information.

You will own operational FSQA decisions across product specifications, new product development, deviations, quality concerns, and supplier issues; lead and develop the FSQA team; and work closely with Sourcing, Supply Chain, Sales, vendors, and customers.

The challenge is to bring the discipline of a strong food manufacturing environment into a fast-moving global sourcing business — knowing where rigor is non-negotiable, where a risk-based decision is appropriate, and when to stop, elevate, or move forward.

Your Impact in This Role - Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day FSQA operational decisions, including product specification approvals, new product development concerns, deviations, quality issues, and technical escalations.
  • Make timely, risk-based go/no-go decisions by evaluating food safety, regulatory, customer, supplier, and operational risk, and clearly identifying when an issue requires escalation.
  • Assess supplier technical capability beyond the paperwork. Challenge inconsistencies, identify gaps between what a supplier promises and what they can actually deliver, and surface risk early.
  • Lead customer complaint investigations from triage through root cause analysis, supplier response, CAPA verification, and closure; coordinate testing and customer updates as needed.
  • Assess applicable destination-market requirements for ingredients, contaminants, labeling, certifications, and import compliance; elevate regulatory concerns and coordinate specialist review when needed.
  • Coordinate food safety incident response, traceability, product holds, disposition, and assigned withdrawal or recall activities.
  • Oversee product qualification, including risk assessments, specifications, testing evidence, labeling, and documented approval before commercial sourcing.
  • Serve as the operational deputy to the FSQA Director, providing senior coverage for operational decisions, cross-functional discussions, and urgent quality matters.
  • Develop the FSQA team/function. Set clear expectations, review the quality of decisions and outputs, strengthen technical judgment, and adapt your coaching style to different levels of experience while maintaining high standards.
  • Create clear quality standards, decision frameworks, and escalation paths so the team can make consistent decisions without depending on one person for every answer.
  • Coordinate FSQA collaboration across Sourcing, Supply Chain, Sales, and other teams, translating technical requirements into clear decisions, owners, next steps and business impact.
  • Use incidents, deviations, supplier issues, and customer feedback to improve how we operate for identifying patterns and turn them into better processes, standards, and preventive actions.
  • Build visibility into FSQA performance through meaningful quality metrics, recurring reviews, and clear reporting on risks, trends, and areas requiring action.
  • Protect the customer experience without compromising food safety or quality, understanding that strong FSQA decisions need to work across the full supply chain — not only inside the quality function.
