About the role

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant/Analyst to join our finance team. This role delivers timely and accurate financial analysis, insightful management reporting, and actionable recommendations to drive business performance.
  • Responsibilities include core financial reporting, budget vs actual analysis, reviewing General Ledger accounts to understand cost drivers, and identifying opportunities for expense reduction.
  • The role includes systems oversight and reconciliation across multiple business systems, cross-platform reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and working with internal stakeholders to optimise data flows and integrations.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: prepare month-end flash reporting within 2 business days of month end; prepare month-end management reports within 7 days of month end; conduct monthly budget vs actual analysis for P&L and cashflow with variance commentary and recommendations; drill into GL accounts to identify cost drivers and savings opportunities; partner with operational managers to communicate findings and track cost optimisation initiatives; maintain financial models for budgeting and forecasting; generate weekly sales & operations reports with margin insights; support cashflow forecasting and working capital planning; identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities; contribute to annual budget planning; prepare weekly reports for sales and operations; identify opportunities for cost optimisation; perform ad-hoc reporting and data analysis as required.
  • Accounting & Financial Control: assist with balance sheet reconciliations including intercompany reconciliations and journal entries; review job costing data for accuracy; prepare monthly BAS; provide backup for bookkeeping and accounting functions, including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable; month-end GL and intercompany reconciliations; perform data cross-checks to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies; work with stakeholders to streamline data sharing and improve reporting efficiency; recommend process improvements for data accuracy.

About you

We are looking for an A-star individual who is passionate and competent with the following qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis or accounting
  • Proficiency with Xero
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills (modeling, pivots, lookups)
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to develop and maintain structured reporting procedures
  • Accuracy and consistency in financial data handling and reporting
  • Ability to develop, streamline and maintain detailed procedures
  • Takes pride in delivering quality work; proactive and solution-oriented under pressure
  • Curious and analytical — seeks to understand the "why" behind the numbers
  • Works well independently and adapts quickly when priorities shift
