Job Description:

M.Hudson Design, a premier landscape architecture firm specializing in high-end residential projects, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Drafting Professional to join our dynamic team. As a key player in our design process, you will work directly with our landscape architects, designers, and project managers, while also leading and managing a team of drafting professionals.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily and weekly work order management to ensure that all project deadlines are consistently met. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining quality control for all drafting services produced by your team, ensuring that every project aligns with our high standards of excellence.

Your keen attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and collaborative spirit will be critical to the success of your team and the overall success of our projects. As a Senior Drafting Professional, you will be eligible for performance bonuses based on your team's achievements, with a detailed bonus structure outlined during the interview process.

This is a growth-oriented role with significant opportunity. Upon mastering the Senior Drafting Professional position, you will have the chance to transition into a Junior Designer role, where you will work directly with a Senior Landscape Architect and contribute to the implementation of our proprietary residential landscape architecture design process.

This position is available on a freelance contractor basis, offering flexibility while working within a supportive, high-performance team environment.

Key Responsibilities: Senior Drafting Professional

As a Senior Drafting Professional at M.Hudson Design, you will take a lead role in managing the drafting process, overseeing your team of junior drafting professionals, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality design documents. Your key responsibilities will include:

Leading and Managing the Drafting Team: Supervise and guide a team of junior drafting professionals, ensuring they stay on task and meet project deadlines.

Overseeing Pre-Design Deliverables: Manage and review all Pre-Design deliverables, including the Survey Base Sheet, Inventory Base Sheet, Proposed Base Sheet, and Inventory Proposed Base Sheet, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Collaborating with the Design Team: Work closely with the Senior Landscape Architect and Junior Designer / Landscape Architect to draft a comprehensive range of deliverables for the entire project scope.

Creating Detailed Design Plans: Develop essential project plans, including the Landscape Plan, Hardscape Plan, Irrigation Plan, Lighting Plan, Drainage Plan, and Construction Documentation.

Producing Visual Presentations: Create 3D Images and Flythrough Videos to bring designs to life and present them effectively to clients.

Effective Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication with the design team to ensure milestones are met, and that drafts align with the client's vision and project goals.

Quality Control: Ensure all drawings are accurate, comply with local codes and regulations, and meet the high standards of the design team.

Design Refinement and Updates: Collaborate with the landscape architecture team to refine designs and ensure that drafts are updated promptly based on feedback and revisions.

Managing Workflow and Deadlines: Oversee the workflow of your drafting team, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and the quality of work remains consistently high throughout the project lifecycle.

By managing these responsibilities, you will play a key role in the success of our projects, ensuring that each design is executed with precision and delivered on schedule.

Qualifications & Skills:Required:

Proficiency in AutoCAD and LandFX

Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator

Experience in residential landscape architecture

Familiarity with Florida planting materials

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong understanding of landscape architecture principles and residential design.

Ability to lead others and meet project deadlines.

Preferred:

An undergraduate or graduate degree in Landscape Architecture

Proficiency in Sketchup & Lumion or other 3D modeling software

Experience in residential design on projects in the United States

Experience Requirements:

3+ years experience drafting landscape plans in AutoCAD and 3D graphics in SketchUp & Lumion for landscape plans

Remote from your home office

Communication Channels: Google Chat, Email and weekly team meetings via Google Meet

Hourly Rate: $20-25/hr

Annual inflation hourly rate increase of 2% minimum

Annual hourly rate increase based on annual performance review
