What We Do at M.Hudson Design

At M.Hudson Design, we specialize in crafting inspiring and rewarding landscape architecture experiences for our clients. We focus on designing and developing comprehensive construction document plan sets for high-end residential projects across South Florida, working on luxury properties such as multi-acre estate homes, waterfront estates, country club communities, horse farm properties, and other upscale residences.

Our design expertise spans a wide range of services, starting with landscape planting plans that enhance the natural beauty of each property. We provide detailed hardscape plans, including driveway, pool, and pool deck designs, as well as patios, walkways, retaining walls, decks, docks, fencing, and gates. Each project is meticulously planned, with careful attention to the smallest details, ensuring a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics.

In addition, we offer advanced irrigation, lighting, and drainage plans that integrate with the landscape, creating efficient and sustainable outdoor environments. For a truly immersive experience, we also create 3D photo-realistic models, still images, and flythrough graphics that bring our designs to life, allowing our clients to envision the final result before construction begins.

Job Description:

As a Landscape Architecture Junior Drafting Professional at M.Hudson Design, you will play a vital role in shaping the foundation of our projects, focusing on the pre-design and preliminary design phases. In close collaboration with our Senior Drafting Professional and design team, you will be responsible for developing precise technical drawings and plans that set the stage for each project's success. Your attention to detail and team-oriented mindset will be crucial in ensuring that every project starts with a strong, accurate foundation that aligns with our high standards and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Landscape Architecture Junior Drafting Professional, your primary responsibility will be to develop the essential pre-design deliverables that set the foundation for every project. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Developing Pre-Design Deliverables: Creating key pre-design documents, including the Survey Base Sheet, Inventory Base Sheet, Proposed Base Sheet, and Inventory Proposed Base Sheet.
  2. Drafting Schematic Designs: Using AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator to draft schematic designs.
  3. Drafting Preliminary Designs: Assisting in drafting preliminary designs, ensuring that the designs reflect our client's vision while maintaining functionality, aesthetic appeal, and feasibility.
  4. Ensuring Accuracy and Compliance: Ensuring that all drawings are accurate and meet local codes and regulations.
  5. Collaborating and Refining Designs: Actively collaborating with team members to refine designs.
  6. Updating Drafts: Updating drafts based on feedback and revisions from the design team.
Qualifications & Skills:Required:
  1. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Design Software: A strong command of AutoCAD or other relevant drafting software is essential.
  2. Exceptional Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and accuracy is critical.
  3. Understanding of Landscape Architecture Principles: A foundational knowledge of landscape architecture principles.
  4. Self-Sufficiency and Deadline Management: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
  1. Educational Background in Landscape Architecture: A degree in Landscape Architecture.
  2. Experience in Residential Landscape Architecture: Hands-on experience in residential landscape architecture.
  3. Familiarity with Florida Planting Materials: Knowledge of Florida's native plants and climate conditions.
Experience Requirements:

1-3 years experience drafting landscape plans in AutoCAD.

Compensation and Benefits:

As a Junior Drafting Professional, you will be compensated competitively, with the opportunity for growth and performance-based incentives. You will receive an hourly rate between $10-$20/hr, based on your experience and skill set, along with an annual inflation adjustment and performance-based hourly increase.
