Role Overview:

The ideal candidate is a DBA with extensive experience in both Oracle and SQL Server. As part of the Global DBA Team, they will support a diverse range of database platforms, including but not limited to Oracle, SQL Server, Oracle Middleware, Oracle E-Business Suite, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based databases. This role involves delivering infrastructure services and operational support for a growing global organization. Experience working in a financial institution or a similar environment would be highly desirable.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Participate as part of a global database support team, providing comprehensive shift coverage to support TPICAP's database environment worldwide, including a mix of on-site and remote work to ensure 24/7 coverage, adhere to agile working policies.
  2. Represent the Global DBA team during major incident calls, taking ownership of problem resolution and ensuring timely completion of related tasks.
  3. Deliver operational support for database issues arising from incidents or changes.
  4. Provide solutions and root cause analysis for system performance issues and failures.
  5. Collaborate on projects, working closely with project teams to ensure smooth transitions of new databases and initiatives into the Production environment.
  6. Work closely with the functional manager and other team members to ensure cohesive operations.
  7. Review and recommend improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the database infrastructure.
  8. Establish and maintain best practices, processes, and procedures to support business operations.
  9. Perform monitoring, testing, and capacity planning for databases.
  10. Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including disaster recovery (DR) procedures.
  11. Drive innovation by continually seeking improvements to infrastructure for a faster and more efficient environment.
  12. Support broader IT initiatives, including business continuity and security efforts.
  13. Participate in the on-call rotation.

Experience / Competences:

Essential

  1. Experienced DBA with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience, preferably in the Financial Services sector.
  2. Proven expertise in managing Oracle databases, including versions 23ai and 19c.
  3. Demonstrated success in managing MS SQL databases, including SQL Server 2022 and 2019.
  4. Strong knowledge of database clustering technologies, such as Oracle RAC and SQL Server AlwaysOn.
  5. Strong knowledge in managing cloud database platforms, in particular AWS. Excellent understanding of cloud architecture, migration methods, tooling and monitoring.
  6. Extensive hands-on experience in performance tuning, data replication, high availability, disaster recovery, and delivering analytics and reporting solutions.
  7. Proficiency with enterprise monitoring tools such as Oracle OEM, Spotlight, and AppDynamics.
  8. Skilled in creating automation solutions using Unix shell scripting, Windows PowerShell, and Ansible.
  9. Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile, and high-pressure environments.
  10. Capable of managing outages and major incidents effectively.
  11. Familiar with ITIL standards.
  12. Solid working knowledge of Red Hat Linux and Windows server environments.

Desired

  1. Strong understanding of Oracle Middleware, WebLogic 12c, and Oracle E-Business Suite.
  2. Hands-on knowledge of MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL databases is a plus.
  3. Solid grasp of cloud technologies and DevOps principles.
  4. ITIL certification is desired.
  5. Professional certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified, or AWS Solutions Architect are preferred.
