Job Description

Parsons District Schools is a 4A school district located in southeast Kansas. The city of Parsons has about 10,000 residents. Lincoln School serves PreK, kindergarten and first grade. Garfield School serves grades two and three, and Guthridge School serves grades four and five. This position is 9 months and benefits are included.

Qualifications

Education/Certification(s)/License(s):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Review if there are additional requirements for all elementary aides who are providing instructional support in Title I, Part A program

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

Some experience working with children

Essential Job Functions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
  • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  • Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
