Job Description:

This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The General Accountant will work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Record Keeping:
    - Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
    - Reconcile bank statements and ensure that all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  2. Financial Reporting:
    - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    - Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insights into financial performance.
  3. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    - Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing.
    - Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  4. Compliance and Auditing:
    - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as adherence to internal policies and procedures.
    - Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  5. Tax Preparation:
    - Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.
    - Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations that may affect the organization.
  6. Financial Analysis:
    - Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
    - Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for strategic decision-making.
  7. Collaboration:
    - Work closely with other departments to provide financial support and guidance.
    - Assist in training and mentoring junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Proven experience as a General Accountant or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
