Senior Associate

We're looking for a seasoned campaigner with experience navigating risks, particularly on work tackling climate change, the rise of anti-democracy and dis/misinformation.

You'll be joining our Global Risk Team, working with our Risk Manager and our Risk Associate. You will work closely with the various global teams, the legal and digital team, to help embed strong risk practices within the design and delivery of time sensitive and impactful campaigns.

This is a new position with scope to shape the role as Meliore expands its risk management operations. This position reports to the Risk Manager who reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

• Engage with campaigns in various phases of design and delivery to provide a risk management lens.
• Provide guidance and feedback related to campaign materials/direction to internal teams and partners, particularly focusing on compliance and safety risks.
• Assist with determining the appropriate path for escalation of high risk activity, in collaboration with the Risk Manager and Executive teams.
• Support teams, particularly working with risk champions, to undertake risk identification, assessment and monitoring for projects during planning and implementation. Assist teams in addressing risk issues, working with line managers to analyze and rate risks, assess mitigation activities, and develop response plans.
• Review current policies and procedures to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Operationalise and support internal governance processes that relate to managing campaign risks.
• Assist with country risk profiles when determining feasibility of campaigns and support legal in undertaking legal risk assessments.
• Promote a culture of risk awareness and accountability through training, education, and risk management consultative support. Work with network teams, particularly risk champions, with different levels of risk maturity to ensure risk is monitored and managed appropriately and to assess the effectiveness of mitigation actions.
• Support our global risk management strategy for Meliore and the programmes we host, based on an enabling risk management approach.

• Experience in campaigns and risk management, ideally in an international organisation or an organisation with a global footprint; non-profit and/or communications experience is considered a plus.
• Strong cross cultural experience and communication skills
• Experience working in an asynchronous environment
• A strong understanding of risk management methodologies and willingness and flexibility to adapt these skills to suit the organisation, particularly in promoting an enabling mindset.
• Strong facilitation skills in group and individually, with the ability to hold complex conversations and manage disagreements
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to build relationships across all levels and ability to effectively communicate and manage interpersonal relationships within the network and Risk team.
• Fluency in written and spoken English, our working language; additional languages are an asset.
• A genuine interest in and passion for addressing climate change.
• The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers.
• The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment and work across time zones using tools such as Zoom, Slack and email (Google Workspace).
