Position Summary

The Cost Accountant Associate - Project is responsible for the timely and proper recording of financial transactions in conformity with accounting standards, statutory and regulatory requirements. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate, and complete recording of inventory transactions, filing of additional compensation claims, and collating the documents thereof.

Roles and Responsibilities

Financial Reporting, Reconciliation and Analysis

  • Maintains, monitors and analyzes Inventory List and Inventory Movement reports.
  • Ensures that general ledger (GL) and subsidiary ledger (SL) balances of inventory are periodically reconciled monthly.
  • Collects, validates, reviews, classifies and records direct costs and Inventory transactions and reports in conformity with company policies and procedure, accounting standards and prevailing government regulations.
  • Monitors and maintains accounting records for direct costs and Inventory in the system.
  • Preparation of annual BIR inventory listing.

Additional Compensation Filing and Reporting

  • Timely preparation of additional compensation filing in accordance with the WESM rules and timelines.
  • Compile invoices, print and submit hard and soft copies related to additional compensation claims to IEMOP.
  • Ensures the completeness and accuracy of the additional compensation claims.
  • Provides reports and analysis of all additional compensation claims filed, approved and disapproved.

Audit Management

  • Complies with internal and external audit requirements relating to inventory transactions.
  • Manages and resolves internal and external audit findings and ensures that these findings will not recur relating to inventory transactions.
  • Performs audit functions including the Supplies and Materials Inventory count, Coal Topographical Surveys and Fuel Sounding. Coordinates and recommends with the supply chain group to resolve any identified discrepancies, obsolete and missing items; and ensures proper and timely execution of duly approved resolutions and accounting disposition.

Others

  • Identifies operational opportunities and implements best processes and practices.
  • Assist in the improvement of internal controls related to inventory processes.
  • Extend relevant support to other departments such as, but not limited to cascading and/or adopting initiatives, programs, projects and activities.
  • Develops and maintains the cost accounting system, policy, procedure and guidelines relating to inventory processes.
  • Assists in other audit functions such as Supplies and Materials Inventory count and Fuel Sounding.
  • Conforms to the company's Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Asset Management, Energy Management, Business Continuity Management System and Information Security Management Systems policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 55001, ISO 50001, and ISO 22301 Standards.
  • Reports Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety events/incidents or potential events, or other security risks to the organization/ committees-in-charge.
  • Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the immediate superior or by management.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to accept a 1-year project-based employment term.
  • With at least 1 year work experience in the fields of accounting e.g. General Accounting, Cost Accounting, External Audit, etc.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or equivalent degree.
  • License Required: CPA is an advantage.
