AMS DevOps Engineer

· Demonstrated experience to resolve incidents, outages, and be part of an on-call rotation. Provide root cause analysis for reported incidents and take ownership of infrastructure components or designs either on your own or as part of a team.

· Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance.

· Analyzing problems in the environment with a mind for restoration of service now and automated prevention in the future. Identifying opportunities to build innovative tools and solve unique operations problems.

· Communicating across the organization to maintain awareness, direct restoration efforts and identify situationally appropriate knowledge workers.

· Validate that all production release will comply with general set of requirements like diagrams, dependencies of other services, monitoring and logging plans, backup and possible high availability setups.

  1. Integrates vendor solutions into the build and deployment processes.
  2. Integrates test automation frameworks.
  3. Automates software delivery and infrastructure deployments across all environments.
  4. Integrates performance testing and business continuity frameworks.

· Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and propose solutions to engineering and infrastructure related problems. Follows direction for constructing reusable build/deployment frameworks.

· Documents requirements, specifications, and solutions as needed. Ability to create a runbook. Develops reports and presentations for senior engineering management, as needed.

· Works closely with business, development, and operational teams to support business requirements. Participates in sprint/project planning and performs estimates as necessary.

  1. Reviews automation/DevOps efforts of less-experienced team members.
  2. Reviews code written by development teams and participates in developing solutions when necessary.
  3. Provides technical guidance or system process expertise.
  4. Provides technical coaching and mentoring to less-experienced team members.

· Collaborating and working cross-functionally with different engineering teams. Exploring and evaluating different open source tools. Enables more frequent, and higher quality, code deployments.

· Enables engineering best practices and follows best practices in the DevOps space. Supports a healthy DevOps culture within the organization.

· Modern mind on solutioning problems with new tech and automation. Works within an agile/scrum environment.

· Part of a rotational on-call for mainly business hours support and occasional after hours.

Experience & Education:

· Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering and or Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

· 5+ years of programming/scripting experience with significant depth of knowledge.

· Experience working in an agile team and overall IT Operations.

· Software development or scripting skills in languages such as C#, Java, Python, Perl, and Ruby.

· Experience in general Kubernetes is required; Rancher experience is a plus.

· Experience and knowledge of how SSL certificates work and how to issue them.

· Experience with web/application servers such as IIS, Tomcat, Apache HTTPD, NGINX, etc.

· Experience with automation tools such as Jenkins.

· Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.

· Experience with version control systems such as Git.

· Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.

Languages:

· Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Comfort with frequent, incremental code, testing and deployment.
  • Overall Linux and Windows knowledge.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products.
  • General networking knowledge - firewalls, VPNs, proxies & load balancers.
  • Requires working knowledge of two or more programming languages.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and independent learner.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects.
