Job Summary:

The Financial Planning Analyst is responsible for providing financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic insights to support a manufacturing company's financial planning and operational performance. This role will work closely with production, operations, and finance teams to meet financial goals while optimizing manufacturing processes, cost structures, and profitability. The Financial Planning Analyst will help guide decision-making through data-driven insights and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts related to manufacturing operations, including cost of goods sold (COGS), overhead costs, labor costs, and raw materials.
  2. Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual manufacturing costs, production volumes, and revenue.
  3. Work with operations and production teams to analyze and optimize production costs and efficiency.
  4. Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports focused on manufacturing costs, margins, and profitability.
  5. Assist in the preparation and analysis of manufacturing budgets and long-term financial plans.
  6. Analyze inventory levels, raw material usage, and supply chain costs to identify opportunities for cost reduction and inventory optimization.
  7. Support the pricing process by analyzing cost structures and profitability by product line or business unit.
  8. Assist with capital investment analysis for manufacturing equipment, technology upgrades, or new production lines.
  9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the financial impact of new product launches, production changes, or process improvements.
  10. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing, such as efficiency ratios, scrap rates, and capacity utilization, to support operational improvements.
  11. Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency and support business decision-making.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  2. 2-4 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or planning, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of cost accounting, including labor, materials, and overhead costs in a manufacturing setting.
  4. Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and financial reporting tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  5. Experience with manufacturing financial metrics and KPIs.
  6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  9. Understanding of financial regulations and accounting principles related to manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Certification in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or similar certifications is a plus.
  2. Familiarity with manufacturing ERP systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or others specific to manufacturing environments.
