Position Summary:

Major responsibilities of a Buyer/Planner Senior include the overall SIOP of assigned business, management and tracking of inventory/supply levels of the assigned product class to support customer demand through close coordination with the BBR Supervisor and Category Manager. Responsibilities include reviewing and releasing MRP signals, executing Purchase Orders, managing supplier delivery and communication, and maintaining target inventory levels as specified by the KPIs. The Buyer/Planner Senior also supports the Category Manager and Supply Chain activities and projects that drive improvements.

This role handles inventory and supply with critical, strategic, and high spend commodities to support the most complex products, directly impacting customer satisfaction and company cash flow through inventory DIO.

Applicants must apply knowledge in Sales Inventory and Operations Planning and Analytics across all plant sites and provide analysis and insight to management. This includes performing periodic analysis to support the organization in supply availability, inventory level, inventory aging, and past due reduction. The Buyer/Planner Senior serves as a go-to person and as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Buying/Planning functions in Oracle/SAP of the BBR team.

Additionally, this role helps the Material Supervisor with workload analysis, mentoring, and coaching junior personnel.

A Buyer/Planner Senior can handle non-routine and complex problems, communicate information, and work under minimal supervision. They also support other core supply chain transactions related to supplier management and inventory management.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

  1. Education: 4-year degree related to supply chain, logistics, business, engineering, or manufacturing.
  2. Experience: At least 3-5 years' experience in supply chain, purchasing, and/or supply planning.
  3. Strong analytical skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead a team/project.
  5. Above average verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Working knowledge of SAP and ORACLE database level systems, as well as electronic collaboration tools.
  7. Ability to analyze processes, enact change, think operationally, strategically, and globally to achieve business goals.
  8. Intermediate knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint, and Access PC skills.
  9. Ability to function well in a high-pressure, fast-paced, multi-task environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. In conjunction with SIOP goals and directives, perform monthly shipment and inventory planning.
  2. Support and serve as a secondary backup for Demantra.
  3. Develop and execute supply chain improvement projects supporting sustainable stock availability and reducing excess inventory.
  4. Conduct daily projections of results and identify risks/gaps in achieving goals and targets for the month in terms of shipments, past due backlogs, and inventory, reporting during scheduled team meetings.
  5. Perform inventory excess and obsolete scrubbing and develop actions to reduce and avoid further buildup.
  6. Monitor finished goods inventory and supply levels, ensuring timely and cost-effective fulfillment of requirements for the assigned product class, maintaining stocking levels (DSA) within established guidelines.
  7. Develop and execute action plans utilizing the system according to standard operating procedures, including purchase order management and execution, coordinating with internal and external parties, and resolving supply constraints impacting total customer satisfaction, supply availability, and inventory objectives.
  8. Review open purchase orders and backlogs daily to expedite and schedule push-outs of excess supply to suppliers as required, updating system dock dates.
  9. Manage supplier performance specifically related to on-time delivery, quantity, and cost through focused supplier communication, escalating issues to immediate superiors as needed.
  10. Perform system part maintenance and new part setup.
  11. Manage assigned parts in Salesforce to support customer requirements.
  12. Serve as the secondary escalation point in the absence of the Material Supervisor or Category Manager, resolving critical team issues as needed.
  13. Assist the Material Supervisor and/or Category Manager in leading and building a culture with a strong sense of process ownership, transparency, teamwork, process discipline, and resilience.
  14. Perform project management activities, including identifying gaps that will affect project success, facilitating meetings for updates and task completion, and working with internal and external personnel to address potential showstoppers or issues that may affect the project.
  15. Create and maintain project dashboards and all relevant databases needed.
  16. Support BBR Global projects assigned by the Material Supervisor or Category Manager, including but not limited to e-sourcing activities (RFQ, RFI, and reverse auction), pricing analysis/savings, supplier improvement drives, and vendor management activities (DPO, vendor sourcing, and elimination).
  17. Lead and collaborate with the BBR and different cross-functional teams in support of tactical and strategic business plans, including improvement/savings projects and Kaizen activities.
  18. Perform other tasks and ad hoc requests from the BBR Supervisor and Category Manager and support company activities.
