The Head of Legal is responsible for supervising and leading the legal unit of, and providing legal services to, the Company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Identification and mitigation of legal risks, including reporting on legal activities, risks and litigation as well as establishing, improving and upholding company policies, guidelines, procedures, and conducting research in all legal fields of interest of the company and respond to legal issues or concerns, among others.
  2. Reviews drafts of contracts and other legal documents.
  3. Ensure that all contracts, legal documents and templates are up-to-date and compliant with relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
  4. Ensure that there is a timely submission of vital legal documents to the appropriate departments or agencies within or outside the company.
  5. Provide legal advice and assistance on the legal implications of company policies and procedures, contracts and partnerships which the company enters into with other entities.
  6. Keeping abreast on changes or additions to laws and industry regulations that affect the company's operations.
  7. Review legal data and provide legal advice and guidance to the company on various legal issues including contracts and litigation.
  8. Act as advisor and manage coordination with external counsel on legal issues including but not limited to the organization's government and regulatory compliance, data privacy and risk mitigation, intellectual property and patents, etc.
  9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations affecting the company's operations.
  10. Resolve issues that arise in existing financial and commercial relationships.
  11. Help ensure that the Company's commercial relationships comply with the applicable laws and financial partner requirements.
  12. Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  13. Provide guidance on legal matters to senior management and other departments within the Company.
  14. Provide legal training and support to other departments as needed.
  15. Approve or check the reviews conducted by the Legal Officers.
  16. Perform such other legal related functions and tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING)
  1. EDUCATION: Bachelor of Laws/Juris Doctor
  2. EXPERIENCE: Member of the Philippine Bar with a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in the legal profession in a financial institution.
  3. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
    1. With working knowledge on BSP's Manual of Regulations; and AMLA, and corporate laws, rules and regulations.
    2. Can formulate or write policies and procedures, minutes, compliance advisories, and correspondences.
    3. Can conduct trainings/seminars for employees.
    4. Preferably with experience in corporate law or contract drafting and review in a corporate setting, or has worked in a financial institution.
    5. Can work independently and in teams.
    6. Thorough, analytical, and detail-oriented.
    7. Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
    8. Proficient in Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
    9. Good interpersonal skills to coordinate with regulatory bodies and internal customers.
