The Category Manager for W Department Store is responsible for managing and developing the assigned category to ensure that overall company set objectives are achieved. S/he is responsible for generating and delivering committed sales targets, margin targets, maintaining inventory levels, planogram management, and maintaining good working relationships with co-employees and respective vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and developing the assigned category
  • Ensuring category sales targets, margins, and other income are achieved
  • Ensuring all Ps (Product, Place, Price, Promo, People, Process) are in place
  • Identifying possible opportunities and implementing programs to develop the category and improve business performance
  • Conducting market research initiatives and reviewing competitors' pricing & margins
  • Managing store checks & visits, and product inventory
  • Building win-win partnerships with suppliers/vendors

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a business-related course or equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years experience as a Category Manager in any Retail/FMCG business
  • Unquestionable integrity
  • Great negotiation, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proficient at evaluating current business retail practices
  • In-depth knowledge of marketing and sales operations and processes
  • Ability to think from a customer perspective and understand buying behavior
