Overview

Postdoc in Bioinformatics at the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc for a 2 year position, to commence February 2026.

We seek a postdoctoral researcher in bioinformatics to lead spatial transcriptomics analyses across diverse projects. Embedded in the Immunological Bioinformatics Group, this role offers a central position in collaborative research with substantial scope for methodological innovation and scientific leadership.

Your job

We strive to advance understanding of immune regulation by applying spatial transcriptomics to complex tissue settings, including skin, lung, and intestinal environments. As a postdoc in our group, your work will involve analyzing spatially resolved gene expression data to uncover how immune cells interact, organize, and drive pathology in barrier tissues. You will contribute directly to ongoing collaborations with experimental research groups, helping to shape scientific questions and extract meaningful insight from emerging datasets.

Your tasks include both hands-on data analysis and the development of tailored workflows or algorithms to address biological and technical challenges in spatial omics. This position offers the opportunity to work with diverse tissue types, disease models, and experimental designs—providing a strong foundation for scientific growth and impact within an interdisciplinary research setting.

Profile

Essential Experience and Skills

• You hold a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field
• You have solid experience in analyzing single-cell omics data
• You have a strong interest in spatial transcriptomics and immune-related biology
• You write clean, reproducible code and are confident working with large-scale biological datasets
• You are comfortable engaging with experimental collaborators and contributing to joint scientific planning
• You have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a team-based, interdisciplinary setting
• You are fluent in English, both written and spoken

Desirable Experience and Skills

• Experience with spatial transcriptomics data (e.g. 10x Visium, Xenium, CosMx, or similar platforms)
• A publication track record in bioinformatics or immunology, including first-author or co-author papers
• Familiarity with computational methods for spatial statistics, image analysis, or cell–cell communication inference
• Experience contributing to software packages, pipelines, or reproducible workflow frameworks
• An interest in academic career development and research leadership

Place of Employment

The place of employment is at the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of Employment

The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week. The position is fixed-term for 2 years, with a possibility for extension. The starting date is February 1 or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 35,715.67 DKK (approx. 4,786.82 EUR, April 2025 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18.07% to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2025.
