Overview

Postdoc in Bioinformatics at the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. The position is a 2-year fixed-term appointment, commencing February 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Lead spatial transcriptomics analyses across diverse projects in the Immunological Bioinformatics Group.
  • Analyze spatially resolved gene expression data to understand how immune cells interact and organize within tissues, contributing to studies in skin, lung, and intestinal environments.
  • Develop and tailor workflows or algorithms to address biological and technical challenges in spatial omics.
  • Collaborate with experimental research groups, help shape scientific questions, and extract meaningful insights from emerging datasets.
Profile

We seek a highly motivated, curious scientist with a strong drive to engage deeply with data and biology. You are proactive, collaborative, and eager to contribute to interdisciplinary scientific projects.

Essential Experience And Skills
  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field
  • Solid experience in analyzing single-cell omics data
  • Strong interest in spatial transcriptomics and immune-related biology
  • Clean, reproducible coding skills; experience with large-scale biological datasets
  • Comfortable engaging with experimental collaborators and contributing to joint scientific planning
  • Excellent communication skills; team-oriented in an interdisciplinary setting
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
Desirable Experience And Skills
  • Experience with spatial transcriptomics platforms (e.g., 10x Visium, Xenium, CosMx)
  • Publication track record in bioinformatics or immunology
  • Familiarity with spatial statistics, image analysis, or cell–cell communication inference
  • Contribution to software packages, pipelines, or reproducible workflows
  • Interest in academic career development and research leadership

LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. International, dynamic research environment.

Terms of Employment

37 hours per week. Fixed-term for 2 years, with potential extension. Starting date: February 1, 2026 (or after agreement). Salary and pension according to the relevant Danish agreement; pension contribution around 18.07% of salary. Tax considerations may apply for eligible applicants with PhD and Danish residence history.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2025.
