JOB DESCRIPTION:

We're a small Australian software development company. We've been in the Philippines around ten years. We're looking for a smart accounts person to help run our Makati Office. This means you do the book-keeping, PH accounts and PH payroll, take care of our lovely staff, assist in dealing with our bank, accountant, cleaner etc., buy the office supplies, and take us all to lunch ;-).

We're looking for someone smart not because your job is very demanding (it isn't) but rather because if you do your job intelligently then you get to enjoy being independent and in control. We would like you to become the glue that holds our small team of programmers, training and support staff together.

Like all our staff, you should feel completely comfortable asking lots of questions - it's the way we do things here.

Our office is close to Makati Med. It is open-plan (no small rooms or cubicles) with big windows and a low-key atmosphere. Our staff are super-friendly.

Our workweek is Mon-Fri, eight hours per day, no shiftwork, no forced overtime. If you like, you can work from home Monday and Friday (only Monday when the boss is in town). You can enjoy flexible hours at times when you need it. Most of us choose to work 7 am to 4 pm.

You need to be very comfortable with Microsoft Excel and conversant with Xero or similar. You need to be good at spoken and written English.

Administrative

  • Assist in compliance with BIR, SEC and other PH government agencies

Accounting

  • Process PH payroll and ensure compliance with PH statutory benefits.
  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice verification and payment processing.
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks such as data entry, bank and credit card reconciliations, and financial report generation.
  • Reconcile bank statements and financial records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end processing, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Generate, send, and track invoices to ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor incoming payments, match them to invoices, and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accounting software.
  • Assist with PH audit preparations and compliance reporting as needed.

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor's/College Degree in Accountancy / Management Accountancy / Business Administration or equivalent
  • Knowledgeable in Xero Accounting software
  • At least 1-2 years of experience as a Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper or similar
  • A solid understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Knowledge of PH financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge and skills in MS Word and Excel
  • An ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Willing to work in Makati City
  • Willing to be trained
  • Certification (e.g. CPA, CA) is a plus, but not required.
