Role Overview:

We seek a talented Data Scientist to join our Email Security team and help build cutting-edge solutions to detect and mitigate email-borne threats such as phishing, vishing, business email compromise (BEC), malicious attachments, etc. This role will be instrumental in developing data-driven models that enhance our ability to detect sophisticated attacks, improve automation, and proactively safeguard our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and implement data-driven models to detect and prevent email-based security threats.
  2. Analyze large datasets of email communications to identify patterns, anomalies, and emerging threats.
  3. Leverage behavioral pattern detection techniques to identify suspicious email activities and attack vectors.
  4. Collaborate with security researchers, engineers, and threat intelligence teams to improve detection capabilities and reduce false positives.
  5. Monitor, evaluate, and refine models to maintain high detection efficacy and adapt to evolving threats.
  6. Develop and optimize feature extraction techniques tailored to identifying malicious emails, attachments, and URLs.
  7. Work closely with software engineering teams to integrate data models into production systems.
  8. Participate in cross-functional meetings, providing insights based on data analysis findings and contributing to proactive defense strategies.
  9. Maintain and enhance data pipelines for training, deploying, and monitoring analytical models.
  10. Stay current with advancements in data science, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity to continuously improve detection methodologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of strong programming skills in Python, with experience in data science libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  3. 5+ years of experience working with large-scale datasets and data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, or SQL-based databases).
  4. 3+ years of experience developing and deploying AI-driven models, with expertise in anomaly detection, NLP, and behavioral analysis.
  5. Familiarity with reinforcement learning or adversarial data science techniques applied to cybersecurity.
  6. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps tools for model deployment and monitoring.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate security challenges into data science solutions.
  8. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in cybersecurity or working with threat intelligence teams.
  2. Knowledge of advanced NLP techniques for analyzing email content and metadata.
  3. Understanding of email security threats, including phishing, BEC, and malware distribution tactics.
  4. Familiarity with email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, MIME) and cybersecurity frameworks.
  5. Contributions to open-source cybersecurity or data science projects.
