Role Description and Responsibilities

The Paraplanner plays a crucial role in supporting financial advisors by gathering and analyzing client data, preparing financial plans, conducting investment research, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in financial planning tools, with minimal direct client interaction.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Client Data Management & Compliance:
    • Gather and review client financial information, including assets, liabilities, risk tolerance, and financial goals.
    • Maintain and update client records while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  2. Financial Plan Preparation & Analysis:
    • Assist in the development of comprehensive financial plans and recommendations.
    • Use financial planning software to model various scenarios and generate reports with charts and graphs.
    • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support advisor recommendations.
  3. Investment Research & Portfolio Analysis:
    • Conduct research on investment products, tax strategies, and financial planning solutions.
    • Prepare investment proposals, portfolio reviews, and risk assessments.
    • Monitor investment performance and provide relevant updates to advisors.
  4. Administrative & Advisor Support:
    • Assist financial advisors with meeting preparation, documentation, and follow-ups.
    • Support new business development, including preparing marketing materials and client presentations.
    • Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  5. Compliance & Portfolio Monitoring:
    • Monitor client portfolios to ensure alignment with financial plans and investment strategies.
    • Keep up to date with changes in financial regulations and industry best practices.
    • Ensure that all documentation meets regulatory standards.
  6. Team Collaboration & External Liaison:
    • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and financial advisors.
    • Communicate effectively with product providers, investment firms, and third-party vendors as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
    • Previous experience in financial planning, wealth management, or a similar role is preferred.
  2. Technical & Industry Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of financial planning principles, investment products, and regulatory requirements.
    • Proficiency in financial planning software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to analyze financial data, interpret reports, and create client-friendly presentations.
  3. Key Competencies:
    • Analytical Skills: Ability to assess financial data and provide strategic insights.
    • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in financial modeling and documentation.
    • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize workload efficiently.
    • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication to collaborate with advisors and internal teams.
    • Problem-Solving: Ability to research solutions and provide well-reasoned recommendations.
