Job Overview Join Northern Trust’s Custody Tax Operations team as a Tax Consultant. You will be central to international withholding tax processing and work with Northern Trust’s global client base to maximize tax benefits. Responsibilities Execute complex tax processes, interpret policies and guidelines, and support partners. Own one or more processes, reports, and procedures, ensuring they are accurate, updated, and compliant. Review work of others, including tax breakdowns and reclaims. Provide training and control reporting as needed. Handle complex queries, refer issues to specialists or the regional tax team. Perform market analysis and collaborate with other teams to implement changes. Maintain operational risk and control environment, following and updating procedures. Attend internal and external operational meetings, often leading on behalf of the team. Be aware of all service level agreements in place. Research market changes, collaborate with other teams to effect changes from an operational tax perspective. Qualifications Strong time‑management skills, prioritising tasks by urgency and importance. Excellent verbal and written communication, organisational and analytical skills. Analytically and procedurally competent, focused on daily execution. Technically sound in your area of expertise with good operational knowledge of other tax areas. Drive continual improvement, think creatively and develop new ideas without increasing cost or risk. Takes initiative, accomplishes tasks and makes decisions according to risk, priorities and deadlines. Bright, articulate, entrepreneurial, able to navigate obstacles, work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast‑moving business environment. Accuracy and attention to detail at all times. Numerically competent with strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. Ability to work within a team environment. Knowledge of end‑to‑end custody tax processes for multiple markets.
