Basic Purpose of the Job Responsible for conducting materials analysis and supervision of the Materials Analysis & Evaluation Laboratory. Provides inspection support, technical and engineering assistance for Quality Assurance, material evaluation/qualification, and process quality improvements. Drives failure analysis technique development. Job Description The Materials Analyst performs analysis of materials related to manufacturing, evaluation, and qualification activities. Maintains lab equipment functionality, assists reliability improvement projects, resolves customer issues, documents and trains lab analysts, formulates specifications, technical reports, and budget proposals, spearheads FA technique development processes, and comprehends operation and maintenance of FA equipment. Reporting Relationship Reports to the Failure Analysis Laboratory Department Manager. Major Duties and Responsibilities Perform analysis of materials related to manufacturing issues. Perform analysis of materials related to evaluation or qualification activities. Maintain functionality of equipment in the Materials Analysis and Evaluation Laboratory. Assist in critical activities of package reliability improvement projects. Assist in the analysis and resolution of customer issues. Document and train lab analysts on sample preparation and physical analysis techniques and tools. Formulate and revise specifications, technical reports, and budget proposals. Spearhead FA Technique Development and standardization processes. Understand theoretical and practical operation and maintenance of common F/A equipment (SEM, EDS, SAT, radiographic, optical microscopes, plasma etchers, etc.). Comply with company policies and industry standard requirements. Job Specifications Education / Experience BS Degree in Engineering, preferably Material Engineering/Material Science, Metallurgical or Chemical. At least 1 year of experience as a laboratory analyst and in manufacturing in a semiconductor company is desired. Skills Analytical and problem-solving skills. Hands‑on experience in EDX, DSC, AFM, FTIR, TGA, TMA, and DMA. Knowledge of thermal and surface analysis is an advantage.
