Senior Monitoring Analyst with Nagios

Role : Senior Monitoring Analyst Location : Alabang Muntinlupa Work Type : Hybrid Job Description: POSITION OBJECTIVE/ JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Monitoring Analyst is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the optimal performance of the organization’s monitoring infrastructure. This role combines deep technical monitoring expertise with administrative capabilities to configure, maintain, and enhance monitoring tools and processes. The Senior Analyst will act as a subject matter expert (SME) for monitoring solutions, lead incident detection and escalation efforts, mentor junior analysts, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve system observability and reliability. Monitoring Management Configure and maintain monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, MOMA, BMC, Splunk, Dynatrace, Solarwinds, etc.) to ensure effective coverage of critical systems and services. Act as primary point of contact for escalated monitoring alerts and ensure timely incident response and resolution. Develop and tune alert thresholds to reduce false positives and improve actionable alerting. Perform root‑cause analysis and contribute to problem management initiatives. Tool Administration & Maintenance Administer the monitoring platform including user management, roles/permissions, integrations, upgrades, and patching. Create and maintain monitoring dashboards, custom scripts, and automated alert rules. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams for tool enhancements and upgrades. Ensure compliance with monitoring standards, security policies, and best practices. Process & Continuous Improvement Define and implement monitoring standards, SOPs, and best practices across the organization. Partner with application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to expand monitoring coverage. Drive automation initiatives for alerting, reporting, and remediation. Document monitoring configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides. Mentorship & Collaboration Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior monitoring analysts. Work closely with NOC, IT Operations, and Engineering teams to ensure proactive system health management. Participate in on‑call rotation as needed. Primary Technical abilities: Monitoring Specialist Task Proficiency Knowledgeable in Windows Server Operating System and Cloud (Azure, AWS) Knowledgeable in Linux Operating System Monitor assigned task(s) including the scheduled reports globally Strong knowledge of monitoring tool configuration, dashboarding, and integrations (Nagios, App Dynamic, Elastic, SolarWinds and other Monitoring tools) Scripting experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Shell) for automating monitoring tasks Knowledge of SNMP, APIs, and log/metrics‑based monitoring Teamwork Ability to flexibly adjust to help other Monitoring Support Specialist in case of unavailability or emergency cases to ensure continuity of service Exercise turnover of activities to the next team member on duty Secondary Technical abilities: Knowledge ITIL framework Knowledge in ticketing tool Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills Strong communication and documentation abilities Detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and proactive Behavior Abilities: Self‑motivated, eager to learn and grow in the IT profession Team player must be able to work with people within and outside of the IT department Customer service oriented Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. English speaking mandatory (French reading would be appreciated) Ability to analyze and synthesize situations Ability to Understand the business constraints Dedication SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION (Requirements): Education Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) Experience 5+ years of experience in IT monitoring or NOC operations, with at least 2+ years in a senior/lead capacity Proven experience administering monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, MOMA, BMC, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, SolarWinds, Prometheus, or similar) Experience with Linux/Windows system administration, networking basics, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) Skills Organized and able to set priorities Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment Ability to grasp system information and technical functions and ability to explain them into layman terms/words for easy understanding of end‑customers Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments Proficient in computer operations – knowledgeable with SQL Database, Windows operating systems, Linux operating Desirable Traits Honesty and Integrity Professional Resourceful and self‑motivated Persevering and patient Eye for details Sense of urgency Sense of commitment Team orientation Practical and logical Strong communication skills Hard working Willing to work long hours Can work well under pressure and minimal supervision Work hours and working conditions To provide 24x7 services to the company, Central Monitoring Team will work on different shifts Some days may be heavy while others may be light.
