Responsibilities

• Liaise with Local Country for issue resolution
• Execute day-to-day activities such as processing and/or data entry with a customer-focused mindset directed by the respective Process Lead
• Post entries from journals into the general ledger
• Reconcile significant accounts to subsidiary ledgers, including balance confirmation of intercompany AR and AP balance, and other balance sheet accounts
• Perform the bank reconciliation monitoring and final review and signing of reconciliation file
• Accumulate, prepare, and record post-closing journal entries
• Prepare information resulting in FS disclosures and audit requirements
• Comply with reportorial standards set by the SLA (e.g. IFRS, US GAAP)
• GL team will be split by either countries or the Business Unit it serves
• Be the key point of contact for a specific country/countries
• Build credibility and establish a good working relationship with respective colleagues within the country/countries
• Adhere to corporate and accounting policies with regular interaction with internal contacts while prioritizing workload to enable month-end turnaround times
• Compare new and updated policies with current procedures to ensure procedures support new policies
• Propose amendments to accounting procedures where necessary due to changes in policy or action plans related to issues encountered during month-end and reporting
• Perform all Fixed Assets transactional processing and reporting
• Prepare journal entries, recurring and allocation journal entries, and collect adequate supporting documentation
• Review and approve/post journal entries prepared by other GL analysts in line with authority levels
• Update master data information in SAP including FX exchange rates, posting period, and fiscal year closing/opening; process foreign currency revaluation
• Confirm all standard/routine journals, interfaces, and adjustments are processed prior to the preliminary GL close
• Receive and reconcile intercompany payments and statements; escalate queries and resolve outstanding issues
• Confirm all sub-ledgers have been closed and reconciled (AP, AR, FA, Cash)
• Perform preliminary close and review preliminary results; facilitate month-end pre-close and post-close debrief sessions with other towers and local finance contacts
• Perform preliminary variance analysis and research and resolve errors relating to misallocation or under accrual; prepare to correct entries and supporting documentation
• Review and maintain recurring and allocation entries on a monthly and annual basis
• Liaise with internal auditors and ensure controls are SOX compliant
• Ensure accounting matters adhere to deadlines and statutory requirements
• Additional tasks may include statutory reporting (audit, etc.) and involvement in projects to improve processes
• Demonstrate problem-solving abilities and resolve ad-hoc issues as needed
• May include planning and transitioning local Finance activities to a Shared Services Centre; project management skills are essential
• Generate and distribute standard reports as specified by the SLA
• Review monthly standard SSC reports and metrics and provide commentary on variances to function management
• Comply with SLA stipulations
• Analyze issues and follow escalation guidelines during resolution
• Collaborate with team members to resolve issues and improve quality; proactively suggest improvements to enable more efficient service delivery
• Participate in continuous learning initiatives provided by the SSC
• Provide constructive feedback

• Graduate of accountancy
• 4-6 years of relevant experience
• Previous experience in a General Ledger function is essential
• Knowledge of SAP system is preferred
• Intermediate Excel skills
