As an Observability Engineer, you will be part of a team that is responsible for managing and operating the observability stack, ensuring E2E monitoring, metrics collection, logging and tracing across our infrastructure and applications. You will collaborate with other stakeholders to improve system visibility, detect issues proactively and drive performance optimization. This role requires strong technical expertise and hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (laC) tools such as Terraform and application analysis.

Responsibilities

• Ensure observability stack and systems are operating at peak efficiency, performance, and uptime.
• Design and implement a robust observability stack encompassing logging, metrics collection, monitoring, alerting, and tracing systems tailored for cloud environments.
• Integrate observability tools with cloud services and infrastructure to achieve comprehensive monitoring and visibility.
• Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform, to automate the provisioning and deployment of observability tools and infrastructure.
• Define and enforce organization-wide monitoring and alerting standards for real-time incident detection.
• Implement comprehensive tracking solutions that provide insights into performance, availability, and reliability of IT workloads.
• Continuously refine the observability stack to enhance system performance, minimize downtime, and optimize resource utilization.
• Develop automated alerting systems for proactive issue identification and resolution.
• Assist in providing root cause analysis of complex faults in distributed systems, and work with multiple teams to see the issue through to resolution and improvements.
• Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and application development teams to align observability strategies with operational objectives.
• Communicate complex technical insights clearly to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making.
• Participate in Agile team activities, contributing to analysis, effort estimation, risk identification, and solution design.
• Keep up to date with best practices in observability and cloud-native monitoring to continually push operations forward.
• From time to time, work flexible hours to ensure tasks are completed without disrupting customer experience.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in observability for on-premises and cloud infrastructure, with at least 2 years in a leadership or technical lead role.
• Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and scripting languages such as Python (with additional knowledge of Bash or similar scripting advantageous).
• Skilled in observability tools such as Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, Loki, PagerDuty, and similar platforms.
• Deep understanding of monitoring, logging, and tracing best practices in cloud-native environments.
• Experience with cloud platforms including Oracle OCI (preferred), with knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP observability features.
• Proficiency in containerized platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, and GitHub.

Work Setup: Hybrid (2 days onsite, 3 days work from home)
