Reports To: Finance Manager with dotted line to Financial Accountant

Location: Remote - Philippines

Position Overview

The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. This role involves a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. This position covers Australia / New Zealand and the United States, with Australia being the main focus (80%).

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update general ledgers, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
• Assistance with preparation of ad hoc & monthly reporting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS) and company policies.
• Assistance with treatment of prepayments, accruals & capitalization.

2. Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Verifies Payables entries to the correct subsidiary, department, and location.
• Reporting on Payables & Receivables, assisting both the AP & AR departments in reporting, complete with days outstanding calculations.

3. Reconciliations & Analysis

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control.
• Project (costs) Accounting.
• Manage the AP Team’s credit card processing & refinements.

4. Compliance & Audit Support

• Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for regulatory reporting.

5. Other Duties

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requested by management.
• Assist with company policies (implementation) & policing/monitoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification or equivalent (preferred).
• Proven experience in general accounting or a related field.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency in Australian standards is optimal, NZ & US additional.
• Proficiency in accounting software (i.e. Oracle NetSuite preferred) and MS Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
