Role Summary As an Analytics Engineer , you will design, build, and maintain scalable, governed data marts using modern ELT (Extract-Load-Transform) tools such as DBT, Dataform, Fivetran, MS SSIS, and Talend. You’ll play a critical role in enabling self-service analytics and data-driven decision-making by serving as the bridge between raw data and business intelligence. This role requires strong collaboration with stakeholders across departments to deliver well-documented, trusted, and analytics-ready datasets that power business insights. What You'll Do Data Modeling & ELT Development Design, build, and maintain optimized data marts for business domains such as Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations. Develop modular, scalable DBT models using software engineering best practices (e.g., version control, CI/CD). Implement robust dimensional modeling (star schema, slowly changing dimensions, data mesh). Write efficient and complex SQL queries using CTEs, window functions, and performance tuning techniques. Data Governance & Documentation Implement and maintain data quality checks using DBT tests, Great Expectations, or Pandas Profiling. Document data models, lineage, and business logic using tools like DBT Docs or DataHub. Ensure compliance with data governance policies, including PII protection and access controls. Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with business stakeholders, data analysts, and data owners to understand requirements and define KPIs. Collaborate with BI teams to deliver datasets optimized for visualization in Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools. Support self-service analytics through clean, reliable, and well-documented data products (e.g., Looker Pro, LightDash). Performance & Scalability Optimize data warehouse performance through techniques like partitioning and incremental modeling. Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline reliability, scalability, and manageability. Recommend and implement improvements to data architecture, tools, and workflows. What You'll Need Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 1–3 years of experience in building and maintaining ELT/ETL pipelines. Strong experience or familiarity with ELT tools (e.g., DBT, Fivetran) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Airflow). Proficiency in advanced SQL and data modeling techniques (CTEs, window functions, UDFs, dimensional modeling). Programming experience in Python, JavaScript, Scala, or similar languages—especially for developing UDFs. Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink. Experience with data visualization libraries such as Plotly, Seaborn, or Matplotlib is a plus. Solid understanding of data governance, metadata management, and PII compliance. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
