Position: Cost Accountant — at Somewhere

Working Schedule: 10a-6p CST

Salary Range: $1500-$1800 USD Monthly (the final salary will be determined by the candidate's level of experience and at the discretion of the client)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant with strong expertise in manufacturing and NetSuite ERP. This role will not only ensure accuracy in costing and inventory records but will also act as a key partner to operations and finance by proactively identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

The Cost Accountant must be a team player, capable of collaborating across departments to enhance controls, standardize reporting, and provide actionable insights that support decision-making.

• Cost Accounting & Analysis: Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) in NetSuite to reflect accurate material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Cost Accounting & Analysis: Reconcile standard versus actual consumption and analyze cost variances.
• Cost Accounting & Analysis: Prepare and review wastage and scrap reports using data provided by production and warehouse teams.
• Cost Accounting & Analysis: Review and allocate landed costs (freight, duties, handling) to ensure accurate product costing.
• Cost Accounting & Analysis: Support cost roll-ups, standard cost updates, and variance reporting in NetSuite.
• Inventory & Transactions Management: Review and approve inventory adjustments (damage, scrap, reclasses, cycle counts) to ensure correct accounting treatment.
• Inventory & Transactions Management: Reconcile system balances against physical counts, coordinating with warehouse staff for count reports.
• Inventory & Transactions Management: Ensure proper valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Inventory & Transactions Management: Monitor and analyze inventory trends to improve accuracy and reduce discrepancies.
• Reporting & Financial Support: Prepare cost and margin analysis reports by SKU, product line, or department, highlighting trends and risks.
• Reporting & Financial Support: Support month-end close by reconciling inventory and cost accounts, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
• Reporting & Financial Support: Create and maintain dashboards and custom reports in NetSuite for real-time cost visibility.
• Reporting & Financial Support: Provide cost insights to management to support pricing, budgeting, and forecasting decisions.
• Process Improvement & Controls: Proactively identify inefficiencies in costing, inventory, and reporting workflows; recommend and implement streamlined solutions.
• Process Improvement & Controls: Support leadership in standardizing and strengthening internal controls over inventory movement, adjustments, and cost allocations.
• Process Improvement & Controls: Collaborate with operations, warehouse, and finance to design improved workflows that reduce errors and improve timeliness.
• Process Improvement & Controls: Act as a key contributor in cross-department projects aimed at improving cost visibility, control, and reporting.

• 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP (inventory, costing, BOMs, WIP & Routing, landed cost).
• Knowledge of inventory valuation methods (average costing, FIFO, etc.) and cost accounting best practices.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience working in a remote, collaborative environment.
