  • Educate patients on the proper use, dosage, and potential side effects of medications.
  • Offer advice on general health topics such as diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.
Medication Management
  • Review and assess potential drug interactions, contraindications, and allergies.
  • Provide guidance on over-the-counter (OTC) medications and supplements.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Providers
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Suggest alternative medications if necessary, considering cost or availability.
Educational Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.):
  • Completion of a Pharm.D. program from an accredited institution.
  • Includes coursework in pharmacology, chemistry, biology, and clinical practice.
Licensure
  • Successful completion of the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX).
  • Passing the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE) (or a state-specific law exam).
  • Meeting state-specific licensing requirements, including background checks or practical experience hours.
Continuing Education (CE)
  • Regular participation in CE programs to maintain licensure and stay updated on industry developments
