Site Reliability Engineer

You will be part of the team responsible for the database management, focusing more on automation and orchestration across our department. We design and roll out strategies, optimize ways of working, and hasten our infrastructure products by being a vital part of these products until we attain our aims. As an essential contributor to our Team, you have the chance to enhance the experience of Vestas' infrastructure users and developers.

In the Database Management and Platform Team, you will be engineering and improving our infrastructure and database products that are used to provision Vestas\' infrastructure solutions. Our department is fully Hybrid, working primarily with Azure Cloud and Enterprise On-Premises data center solutions.

Infrastructure Services > DataCenter & Cloud, Engineering and Services (DCES) > IOC Chapter

• Automate and script routine database tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention
• Create databases and implement infrastructure solutions based on business requirements
• Monitor databases and related systems to ensure optimized performance
• Perform debugging procedures on database scripts and programs, as well as resolving conflicts
• Enforce best practices in database security, access control, and compliance standards
• Install, configure, and maintain database systems across on-premises and cloud environments
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle - from development to production - including CI/CD integration for database deployments, End-of-Life (EOL) management, and routine housekeeping
• Develop and update thorough documentation while also enhancing the team's collective knowledge

• Industry experience with exposure to Agile software engineering
• Practical experience with fundamental database platform services, particularly Microsoft SQL Server
• Skilled in managing Azure Database PaaS services, including deployment, monitoring, and scaling
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and working knowledge of MongoDB
• In-depth understanding of Microsoft SQL Server (to version SQL Server 2019+), database administration and maintenance of production systems
• Proficient in scripting and automation using PowerShell or Python, with version control practices via GitHub / ADO and development tools like Visual Studio Code
• Experience in logical and physical data models, metadata definitions and models, queries and reports, processes, and maintenance procedures

• Cross-skilled (functional, technical, development, operations, security) or motivated to learn development skills
• Experience in agile delivery methods (SAFe, KANBAN, DevOps, etc.)
• Motivated by working in teams, frequently communicating, and collaborating
• Qualified to make decisions and engage with other teams to manage dependencies
• Able to document and operate complicated solutions in a structured and simple manner
