DevOps Engineer

The Reivernet Group of Companies is made up of seven entities: RN Projects, Reivernet, IT Triage, Site Compass, Stella (Bright Star), RN Gateway and RGC Management. We design, build, configure, support and document complex data networks for business, with a focus on hotel networks. Stella is network management software that configures, secures and documents complex data networks. Whether remotely configuring supported network devices, providing real-time network equipment inventories or deploying templated configurations via a web interface, Stella reduces stress and increases profits because she knows her networks intimately. Stella clients are located across the globe including Oceania, Asia, Middle East and Europe. Purpose of the role The DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to enable secure, efficient, and cost-effective deployment of applications. This role serves as a critical bridge between development teams and production infrastructure, ensuring reliable deployments while maintaining robust security controls and optimizing cloud costs. The position requires translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and proactively identifying infrastructure challenges before they impact operations. Outcomes Reliable and efficient deployment pipelines that enable development teams to deploy code safely and frequently with minimal friction Secure, well‑architected AWS infrastructure built with Infrastructure as Code (CDK) Measurable cost optimization through analysis and implementation of AWS cost‑saving opportunities without compromising performance or reliability Proactive infrastructure management with SOC2 compliance, comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and reporting that identifies scaling needs and challenges before they impact operations Clear communication of infrastructure status, projects, and technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholder Responsibilities Design, build, optimise, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI Develop, deploy, manage, and optimise AWS infrastructure using CDK including comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting for infrastructure health and application performance Deploy, manage, and optimise AWS database services including RDS, Aurora for cost, availability, and security Plan and test disaster recovery procedures, backup strategies, and define RTO/RPO requirements Profile An experienced DevOps engineer with 3-5 years of hands‑on AWS experience who brings both deep technical expertise and excellent collaboration skills. They have a proven track record of building reliable CI/CD pipelines, optimising cloud costs, and supporting development teams in fast‑paced environments. This person thinks automation‑first, approaches problems pragmatically, and maintains a strong security mindset in all decisions. They stay current with evolving AWS services and DevOps practices and can translate complex technical challenges into clear business recommendations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working collaboratively with developers while also engaging with executives and non‑technical stakeholders, always keeping business objectives in focus alongside technical excellence. Attributes Strong hands‑on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) across compute, storage, networking, and security services with deployment and maintenance using CDK Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, ideally in GitLab CI but could be in similar product Docker skills including image creation, optimisation, multi‑stage builds, and ECR registry management Proficiency with Python for automation Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities with attention to detail Actively seeks opportunities to eliminate manual tasks and considers security implications, threat models, and vulnerabilities in all decisions AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional We understand that not everyone may meet every aspect listed in our job postings.
