Overview

Environmental Sustainability Officer (project-based) will conduct improvement initiatives to close out gaps identified during the external Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assurance activity. This will help Energy Development Corporation (EDC) secure or maintain the ESG assurance certification under applicable ISAE and ISO standards. The project-based employee will cascade climate-related risks and disclosure standards to enable all EDC groups to identify climate-related risks and opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Draft standard protocols based on the ESG Assurance Audit – draft standards based on the recommendations of the third-party auditor for the ESG Assurance.
  • Assess the first-half environmental sustainability performance for alignment with applicable ISAE and ISO standards.
  • Conduct improvement initiatives to close out identified gaps in the inventory of environmental sustainability performance parameters in preparation for the ESG assurance.
  • Serve as the project coordinator for the ESG external assurance, which will include desktop reviews, interviews, and site visits of auditors.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting will be considered if job experience is related to Sustainability Accounting/Reporting.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in environmental management such as Pollution Control Officer (PCO) role, environmental consultancy, environmental management audit (e.g., ISO audits) and greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting.
  • Experience in sustainability reporting using standards such as IR, IFRS, TCFD, SASB, GRI and CDP is an advantage.
  • Experience in Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Environmental Management Systems (e.g., ISO Audit) is preferred.
