About the job Lawyer (Trade and Customs Manager) OVERVIEW: We are looking for a Lawyer-Trade and CustomsManager with a strong background in legal practice to lead the client'scustomsadvisory and compliance services. This role offers an exciting opportunityto work in the dynamic field of trade and customs law, assisting with complex regulatory issues while ensuring client compliance with Philippinecustoms and trade regulations. Responsibilities: Oversee and handle customs audits andcustoms regulations, identify improvement areas, and advise on corrective measures. Executecustoms-related due diligence and health checks to assess compliance andmitigate potential risk Responsible for understanding domestic tax concepts and undertaking relevant studies to develop or increase that knowledge. Applyknowledgeofdomestic tax legislation, case law, andother relevant regulations by analyzing, researching, andapplying knowledge consistently to all allocated work appropriateto level and grade. Develop and reviewcorrect tax analyses and tax computationsor returns relating to simple fact patterns and issues. Demonstrates the ability touse local research, software and technologytools to efficiently produce work that is technicallyaccurate and comprehensive. Applies tax risk managementtools and procedures consistently as appropriate to level and grade. Displaysan awareness of potential planning opportunities associatedwith the local tax environment by identifying and escalatingthem as appropriate. Complies with allconfidentiality and privacy policies of own firm andapplicable regulatory authorities. Displays up to datetechnical knowledge by attending all mandatorytax training within deadlines set and applying this trainingto tax work where appropriate. Uses knowledge of tax todiscuss key issues with clients, localrevenue authorities and other team members, includinghow to assess conflicting, ambiguous or inconclusiveauthorities. Interprets and applies keytax sources to carry out and document the results of tax compliance and advisory work. Analyzes authorities andreaches conclusions relating to factpatterns and issues of moderate complexity. Applies knowledge ofchanging tax law, regulatory requirementsand industry-specific concerns to client engagements,identifies where they may impact a client, and reflectsthese in their client work. Assesses the sufficiencyand appropriateness of the analysisand conclusions reached on a tax issue by reviewingthe working papers of junior staff and participating in theevaluation of issues raised with or by the manager and/orpartner. Qualifications: Preferably a CertifiedPublic Accountant and a member of theIntegratedBar of the Philippines and Certified PublicAccountantbut accounting background is not mandatory. Must have 4 years ofrelated experience in Customs engagements(due diligence, health checks and advisory) Experiencein handling complex customs compliance matters and audits is essential. Demonstratedability to handle client relationships and provide legal guidance inhigh-pressure situations.
