The Opportunity

To support our commitment to world-class finance services, our Finance Associate will provide support to our Shared Services. This role is based in the Philippines. We are looking for a detail-oriented and Mandarin-speaking Finance Associate to join our growing Shared Services team. This role is ideal for finance professionals with experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or Payroll, who are passionate about delivering high-quality financial services in a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Your role in our team

As a Consultant in the Arup Manila Environmental and Social Team, you will help deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. You’ll have responsibility from day one, with opportunities to grow as you progress and broaden your skills. Responsibilities

• Report to and act as a Project Manager and Project Coordinator, collaborating with project teams on a day-to-day basis.
• Opportunity to take on increasing management responsibility depending on business needs.
• Lead the provision of technical ecological input for large and complex projects, primarily across transport, aviation, energy (renewable energy) and water sectors.
• Support leadership and delivery of Environmental and Social projects in the Philippines and Southeast Asia with a focus on ecology; coordinate people, facilities and resources within tight timelines and budgets; provide technical support to grow Arup’s Environmental and Social team in Manila.
• Provide technical direction and growth opportunities to junior team members.
• Support project bidding and business development, including leading ecology-led proposals and contributing to multidisciplinary proposals.
• Foster and develop key client relationships; represent Arup in Manila and potentially regionally.
• Engage in research and development activities to contribute to Arup’s internal initiatives and community programs.
• Coordinate with professionals across the firm and with Staffing Group Leaders to plan resources; liaise with Project Managers, Engineers and external technical specialists as needed.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualifications in Ecological Sciences, Biology (Marine Biology), Forestry, Environmental Science or related discipline (BSc essential, MSc preferred).
• Relevant experience in renewable energy, marine, transport, aviation and/or water infrastructure within consulting, academic, non-profit or government sectors.
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience in a professional setting, including in consulting, academia, non-profit or government.
• Experience in fieldwork in marine and/or freshwater ecology.
• Experience delivering projects under Environmental and Social Safeguards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, ADB E&S Framework, Equator Principles) in addition to national standards.
• Knowledge of planning and biodiversity legislation/regulations in the Philippines related to renewable energy, transport, aviation and/or water infrastructure.
• Understanding of international E&S safeguards relevant to biodiversity, including habitat assessment, offsetting and mitigation.
• Knowledge of biodiversity financing and natural capital requirements for projects in the Philippines.
• Ability to communicate complex ecological matters clearly to clients and project teams; strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across the business.
• Project management, research and analytical skills; interest in ecological initiatives and community programs.
