About the Role

We’re looking for a remote Senior QA Lead to transform our quality assurance processes and guide our QA team through a critical scaling phase. Because of AI coding tools, development velocity has outpaced testing capacity, and you’ll introduce smarter testing strategies and automation to restore balance.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead and mentor a team of experienced QA engineers.
  • Build and scale automated testing frameworks across web, mobile, and IoT platforms.
  • Introduce AI-driven testing approaches to improve coverage and speed.
  • Own performance and API testing, establishing best practices.
  • Work as both a hands-on contributor and strategic leader to ensure QA keeps pace with rapid development cycles.

Your first 2–3 months will focus on eliminating bottlenecks by accelerating regression automation and optimizing QA allocation across product pods. Beyond that, you’ll shape the long-term QA strategy to scale quality and velocity as the organization grows.

Current QA resources are stretched across multiple pods with manual testing within biweekly sprints. You’ll improve the QA:Dev ratio and assume performance and API testing currently handled by developers.

Ideal Candidate

We seek a candidate with 6+ years of QA experience, including at least 2 years in leadership, combining deep automation expertise with proven team management. You should be comfortable writing Selenium scripts and leading cross-functional chapters, with extensive cross-platform testing experience across web, mobile, and IoT. Strong communication, proactive clarification, and the ability to identify critical bugs within biweekly release cycles are essential. You should thrive in fast-paced scaling environments and be capable of implementing AI-driven testing strategies while maintaining high quality.

Your performance will be measured by automating 100% of the regression suite within 2–3 months, reducing testing cycle durations, and decreasing customer-reported bugs through improved quality.

You will collaborate with Product Managers, Pod Managers, Scrum Masters, Developers, and DevOps specialists, while managing QA Engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Requirements Analysis & Sprint Participation: Review acceptance criteria with Product Managers, identify missing edge cases, happy paths, and negative scenarios; participate in weekly product lead calls; contribute to sprint planning and biweekly cycles.
  • Automation Testing Leadership (First Priority): Automate regression tests using Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent tools; build and maintain automated UI test suites for web and mobile; test with shipped hardware (cameras, IoT sensors, beacons); aim to reduce manual regression cycles.
  • Manual Testing & QA (After Automation): Test new feature cards after automation foundation; perform sanity and smoke testing for releases; create detailed bug reports with user stories and acceptance criteria; support Admin Portal and Billing testing needs.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Run monthly QA chapter meetings; set goals and SOPs; create quarterly learning objectives; conduct 1:1s with manual QA engineers.
  • Performance & API Testing (Long-term): Implement performance testing with JMeter; develop API testing strategies with Postman; establish load testing and monitoring capabilities.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 6+ years in QA roles (e.g., QA Engineer, Test Automation Engineer, QA Lead, Senior QA Analyst) or related.
  • At least 2 years managing and mentoring QA team members (leading two QAs with 5–6 years of experience each).
  • Proficiency with automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent) for web and mobile testing.
  • Performance testing knowledge with JMeter for load testing and scalability.
  • Strong understanding of functional, sanity, regression, and smoke testing methodologies.
  • Excellent communication across Dev, Product, and DevOps teams.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum and sprint-based testing workflows.
  • Strategic thinking for process improvement and risk mitigation in biweekly release cycles.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to identify critical bugs quickly.
  • Experience running team meetings and creating quarterly goals and learning roadmaps.
  • Experience with Git/Bitbucket and project management tools.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in telematics, fleet management, or multi-product SaaS.
  • Experience with AI-driven testing tools (Claude Code preferred).
  • API testing experience with Postman.
  • Hardware/IoT device testing background (cameras, sensors, beacons).
  • ISTQB or equivalent certification.
  • Understanding of pod-based team structures and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with Claude Code, Selenium/Cypress, Zoho Sprints, Bitbucket, JMeter, Postman, Google Workspace, GCP, Zoho One, ClickUp.
  • Working Hours: Fixed 9-hour shift, 4AM-1PM Eastern Time (Toronto); 1-hour break.
  • Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week, with additional 5 hours of break time allocated; exclusivity required.
  • Education: Bachelor\'s/Master\'s in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Seniority: Senior (6+ years or relevant experience).
  • Compensation: ~ CAD $2,184–2,790 per month, based on experience. Structured as a Consultant Agreement (independent contractor).
  • Location: Remote.
