Mechanical Drafter (HVAC) | AU Client The Mechanical Drafter will be primarily responsible for the preparation of mechanical shop drawings for assigned projects. Creating shop drawings that are used for manufacturing purposes generally including: Break up of duct into manufacturable pieces to avoid other trade services. Locations of duct and HVAC equipment including Condensers, Wall splits, Mechanical switch boards, Roof equipment, and pipe work. Builder’s Works Drawings showing where we require penetrations, plinth surrounds, water tap in points, tundish waste points, ceiling tiles to be left out and any other work we require the builder to perform on our behalf. Ability to foresee construction issues during coordination and deal with issues in a professional and problem solving-focused manner. Ensuring the shop drawings display the appropriate information to facilitate other parties in the construction process including: Sheet metal fabricator to manufacture duct; Site installers; Concrete trades to show where we need to penetrate various building fabrics; Other trade services such as Electrical, Fire, Hydraulics for coordination purposes; Our direct client the builder as a record of our construction of mechanical services; The Architect for professional display of items to adhere to an architectural design; Our suppliers for ordering equipment; Maintenance personnel to adequately locate items on site after project completion; The end user client as a record of the finished product and service. Downloading appropriate drawings from other project stake holders in order to perform pre-coordination with other services including Architectural, structural & other trade services drawings, Issuing of formal approval and construction drawings to our client. Using digital duct sizing programs for air speed velocity and pressure. Understanding of drawing title and number conventions especially when working on an Aconex Project. Completing site visits for drafting purposes when required; Advising the Project Manager of any documentation revisions that may constitute a variation to the project. Requirements Degree qualification in Mechanical Drafting or equivalent discipline. At least 5-6+ years' experience in Mechanical Drafting Strong knowledge of Revit 3D and AutoCAD with various 2D and 3D software overlays Good understanding of HVAC installation process and methods Strong attention to detail and good troubleshooting skills Strong work ethic with the drive and motivation to succeed Demonstrates professionalism, treats others with fairness and respect, and takes responsibility for their work while building positive relationships. Brings a proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to exceeding expectations and maintaining a positive attitude. Open to feedback, eager to learn, and continuously seeks ways to improve, innovate, and contribute to business success.
