Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller – Arup Manila

The role is based in the Manila office. You will join a multi‑disciplinary technical delivery team working on projects with local clients and across the United Kingdom, including wastewater treatment plant hydraulic design, network design, and catchment‑scale wastewater modelling. You will lead project delivery, own programmes and quality assurance, and contribute to the development of overseas teams across our global business.

• Take ownership of project delivery and support the project manager in managing project programmes, budgets, and quality assurance within your area of expertise.
• Lead a team of junior modellers based in Manila and contribute to the development of overseas teams.
• Lead a variety of projects from inception to completion, developing wastewater network and catchment survey specifications, liaising with survey sub-contractors, and supporting our global training programme.
• Develop and review technical reports, models, supporting calculations and deliverables. Assist with bid preparation and proposals. Maintain strong client relationship management and present results, challenges and proposals confidently.
• Deliver wastewater network modelling projects to industry standards and specifications, including model build and flow survey verification. Work with 1D hydraulic modelling for risk analysis and solutions for water quality and flood risk benefits including storm overflows and wastewater treatment works.
• Support sustainability initiatives as part of the team’s work and contribute to Arup’s purpose: Sustainability is everything.

• Background in Civil, Mechanical, or related discipline.
• Holds a recognized engineering professional qualification (PRC license). Chartership or working towards chartership with CIWEM, ICE, or similar is highly desirable and advantageous, though not essential.
• 8–10 years of experience in catchment modelling, network design, and treatment plant hydraulics.
• Practical experience in hydraulic modelling techniques, primarily within the UK water industry, using InfoWorks ICM. Knowledge of Level 1 UPM water quality modelling is a plus but not required.
• Strong technical know-how in GIS (QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, or similar).
• Skills in 1D hydraulic models for risk analysis and developing solutions for water quality and flood risk benefits (including storm overflows and wastewater treatment works).
• Ability to lead and deliver wastewater network modelling projects, including model build and flow survey verification.
• At least 3 years of experience in handling a project or design team on local or international water-related projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; track record of delivering water projects with private/public sector clients and regulators.
• Experience in developing and reviewing technical reports, models, and deliverables; ability to assist with bids and proposals; strong client relationship management and ability to present results and proposals.
