Overview

B&W Philippines R&D Deploy & Science Communications Assistant Manager

This role is accountable for technical project leadership, deployment of Beauty (Hair/ Skin) innovations, and co-creation of communications (content, experience, social) in the Philippines. It also covers last mile innovation product workstreams, including product and processing development, to deliver superior and well-designed products into local factories. A key responsibility is translating technical insights and data into product and marketing communications, activations, and science communications in collaboration with marketing teams.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Project Leader (TPL) partnering Brand Demand Creation teams and Customer teams to deploy Beauty (Hair/ Skin) innovations and co-create communications (content, experience, social) in the Philippines.

  • Lead last mile innovation product workstreams including Product and Processing development to deliver high-quality products into local factories.

  • Develop Product Claims and Science Communications by translating technical insights into product and marketing communications and activations; contribute to PR events and content co-creation with marketing teams.

Technical Project Management – Deployment of Hair/ Skin Innovations & Savings projects
  • Be the first point of contact on assigned Hair/ Skin brand for PH stakeholders and cross-functional teams; facilitate meetings, gather input, and update progress on brand-relevant projects and R&D concerns.

  • Lead last mile project management with global brands in-market; support local deployment network for innovation and optimization projects, specifically for NRM/market activity requests, on time in full; liaise with SEA central capability; deliver technical solutions, risk assessment, and robust validation.

  • Execute risk management for identified risks from BG/SEA to local factory and market.

  • Oversee innovation deployment in factories; ensure deployment processes align with project objectives and factory Operational requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to local network and project teams.

  • Support gross margin actions to deliver brand GM in PH products via proposal development and approvals, and ensure brand activities are conducted OTIF.

  • Lead execution of formulation compliance, resiliency, and savings projects in-factory.

Key partner of Demand Creation Brand Leads for Brand Content, Experience and Social
  • Partner Brand and Customer teams to customize science communications and product assets to local requirements, including adopting to the Social First framework; work with marketing to create science content aligned with strategies (demos, claims, product stories/ visuals); ensure content is scientifically accurate and engaging.

  • Develop R&D technical insights on consumer, competitor and market; own market product knowledge in PH and maintain databasing to inform new claims, content and communications for Beauty & Wellbeing PH.

  • Develop and implement science communications: create and disseminate MTI & science communication materials; design and execute plans to engage stakeholders and convey complex concepts accessibly; oversee creation of press releases, articles, social posts, videos, and presentations; ensure accuracy, engagement, and alignment with audience, space, and culture.

  • Collaborate with Social team on local science engagement plans, coordinate with regional Engagement team and local demand creation teams; co-develop annual calendar for influencer, community, and PR activities through content/events/community education; be the voice of the product expert on Beauty Hair & Skin in the PH market.

  • Local Claim support: Engage with LCF and BG teams to ensure claims comply with local regulatory requirements and create necessary claim support documents.

  • Own competitor monitoring data generation and analysis for Hair & Skin categories; ensure up-to-date information to inform brand plans.

  • Support Philippines Beauty & Wellbeing R&D Capability building, particularly on developing Social First capabilities—merging science communications with culture and consumer cohorts for future-fit R&D communications.

Requirements
  • Preferably 3–6 years in product development, product claims and communication, quality or related R&D workstreams with technical specifications management.

  • Experience in product development, particularly personal care & beauty products.

  • Experience in claims, content and science communications creation.

  • Exposure to global & regional work experience is an advantage.

Skills
  • Strong Technical and Analytical skills — Scientific or Engineering background with high technical proficiency to support product development and optimization for the business.

  • R&D Business Acumen — appreciation of R&D interfaces across the business; cross-functional collaboration experience (e.g., supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, finance) is a plus.

  • Independent project management with team influence and collaboration experience; network, risk, and stakeholder management skills are advantageous.

  • Dynamic and agile leadership; able to manage virtual and in-person teams, influence stakeholders, and solve problems.

  • Data analysis, visualization & communication skills — ability to interpret requirements and present data clearly; experience with digital/data systems is an advantage.

  • Creative Communication — excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex scientific information accessibly; experience with content creation and multimedia tools is an advantage.

  • Social Savvy — strong understanding of today’s social media content, platforms, and communities; PR/media presentation/public speaking experience is an advantage.

  • Passion for Science Communication — commitment to promoting scientific literacy and public engagement in science.
