Overview
Role Title: Actuarial Analyst
Location: Quezon City, National Capital Region, Philippines
Responsibilities- Aggregate and stack loss runs from various file types (mostly Excel and PDF). Interpret and analyze large data volumes to identify claims that pierce multiple layers of an insurance tower (e.g., claim that exhausted the SIR limit and affected at least one additional layer above the SIR).
- Combine all losses for an event to produce ground-up gross indemnity & ALAE for each claim.
- Identify data anomalies and raise questions about the data.
- Excel proficiency is essential for populating multiple sections of the rater; basic Excel formulas to aggregate losses efficiently.
- Experience with insurance data and terminology (gross vs. net loss, SIR vs. deductible, indemnity and ALAE, paid vs. reported, etc.). Familiarity with Medical Professional Liability is a plus.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills; ensure accuracy when dealing with data aggregation and entry; verify claims with similar claimant, date of loss, and allegation.
- Analyze actuarial funding studies: extract information such as expected loss for the prospective period, retention limit, and exposures for entry into the rater.
- Identify the limit structure for each product (Professional Liability, General Liability, Abuse & Molestation, etc.) and enter limits and ALAE treatment in the rater.
- Identify risk characteristics, including the healthcare segment and healthcare category from submissions.
- Strong communication skills: explain data issues to enable underwriters or actuaries to understand risk; may work directly with the actuary to determine the best way to capture data.
