The Research Associate position requires specialized technical skills and a well-developed understanding of scientific practices and procedures, typically acquired through hands-on experience and/or vocational training. The role involves applying this knowledge to perform a variety of technical support functions within established workflows. Work is generally guided by standard protocols, with routine tasks carried out under minimal supervision and general direction.

Responsibilities

  • Assist supervisors with routine tasks related to operations, breeding, and research support.
  • Execute a variety of duties in accordance with established procedures, meeting specified timeframes and quality standards, with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and conduct standard tests and experiments.
  • Analyze and interpret data or test results; present findings clearly and accurately.
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare routine reports and documentation.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on assigned technical equipment.
  • Organize and manage personal work schedule to meet operational demands, escalating non-standard tasks to senior staff for prioritization.
  • Resolve common work-related issues independently, referring complex problems as needed.
  • Provide informal training and guidance to junior staff, particularly in equipment usage and procedural tasks.
  • Monitor inventory levels of essential equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness and availability for ongoing activities.
  • Build practical knowledge in areas such as agronomy, plant genetics and breeding, pest and disease management, and crop markets.
  • Support the Plant Breeder in supervising, training, and evaluating breeding aides and field labor.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the supervisor for review and feedback, as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Crop Science, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, and other related Biological Sciences
  • MS degree/units are an advantage
  • strong work ethic and passion for research subject
  • Strong communication, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledgable in statistical analysis and interpretation
  • Technical writing and results presentation
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Driving skill is an advantage
  • With at least 2-4 years work experience in crop breeding or related fields
  • Willing to work or relocate in San Juan Batangas
